Each fall, hops reach their peak flavor- bursting with aromatic oils that give ales layers of complex flavor and aroma that can only happen at harvest time. For us, fall comes twice a year- once in each hemisphere. This Harvest Ale features "wet" or un-dried whole-cone hops from Yakima, WA that are plucked from the bine and delivered to our brewery within 24 hours of picking.

Buon amaro, secco.

Pours a reddish copper with a light foamy head that lingers. Heavy grass notes dominate the nose. Strongly carbonated with a light/medium body. Drinks hoppy with the very noticeable flavor of those fresh hops. Citrus comes through on the back end and finish. The palate finishes mildly bitter but nothing to out of control. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at The Grove, Huddersfield. 20.01.13. My notes say, "Hazy amber, white head, red fruit, blah, blah, blah". And who am I to argue? Unremarkable.

Poured from bottle into pint glass: pours red amber with a nice tan head. Aroma of grass, malt, and flowers. Taste is malty but not sweet, with a nice hop finish. Medium body, medium carbonation, tasty beer!

Bomber courtesy of Quag. THANKS. Pours a pretty copper amber with nice offwhite frothy head. Aroma is grass, dry hay, and flowers. Taste is malty and dry with a floral hoppyness. Nice beer.

It pours a beautiful amber with a touch of ruby. There is a large, pillowy off-white head that looks like soap bubbles. It is very attractive in the glass.

Light nose, predominantly citrus with a touch of pine resin. Itís a little bit grainy, with some biscuit and bread present. Slight grass note. I get a touch of Tang, and by that I mean the orange drink, in the nose. Interesting. Definitely solid.

Right up front I get a definitely funk note, which I would assume was coming from the use of Simcoe hops, except for the fact that Sierra Nevada has the hops they used listed on their website (Cascade and Centennial). Itís definitely citrusy than the nose, with mostly grassy and light pine notes. Not as hoppy as I wouldíve expected. It finishes with a woodsy, grassy hop note that is prominent, but not overwhelming. The aftertaste is certainly bitter, with a distinct resin note that works, but isnít anything moving or earthshattering. < />
Definitely quaffable, and I could certainly drink a large amount of this. While I donít necessarily like it as much as the SNPA, it retains almost all of the drinkability of its more well-known brother.

Thereís nothing wrong with this beer, but it doesnít live up to the Sierra Nevada name in my opinion. It is woodsy, with a touch of a Simcoe-esque funk, but the resinous hop presence just isnít as prominent as Iíd like. Overall, Iíd say the Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere Harvest is a solid beer, but not what Iíd call an impressive one. Iíd drink it again if I were offered it, but Iíd prefer the regular Sierra Nevada Pale Ale over this. (Note: Julian Bottling Date of 3267 -- 267/2013 means that this beer is 91 days old as of the review date.)

Dark orange pour, slightly off white head. Aroma is earthy and dry malt. Taste is citrus, earth and a dry finish. Pretty good IPA.

Draft. Hazy straw color with white head. Nice citrusy aroma with some resiny notes as well. Flavor and mouthfeel is a bit thin, and not quite as bold as the aroma might indicate. (from notes)

The head is ok, body dark red-brown. It smells fruity intensive, black tea, tabac, creamy. The taste is bit bitter, black tea, hoppy, aromatic, special. Nice
