Each fall, hops reach their peak flavor- bursting with aromatic oils that give ales layers of complex flavor and aroma that can only happen at harvest time. For us, fall comes twice a year- once in each hemisphere. This Harvest Ale features "wet" or un-dried whole-cone hops from Yakima, WA that are plucked from the bine and delivered to our brewery within 24 hours of picking.

On draft. Faint aroma. Creamy head, dense lacing. Flavor is oddly flat. Little going on.

24oz bottle shared. Pours a medium orange color with off white head. Aroma is a nice resinous hop. Oozing with flavor and malts. The flavor is very good a solid balance of hops and malts. Nice pine and some floral mix in there. Overall another excellent beer from Sierra Nevada.

Longneck bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy amber/copper colour with a slightly tan head. Obvious citrus and pine aroma with some orange peel. Excellent mouthfeel that compliments the citrus and pine. Strong grassy flavour without a harsh bitterness. Very evident use of west coast hops. Delicious.

Bomber. Dark orangey brown with a moderate sized fluffy, bright white head. Grassy and mild orange zest hops with black pepper, light graham cracker and vanilla cookies. Flavors of leather, grapefruit rind, white tea, nectarines. A nice pale ale that leans heavily on subtle flavors and little on overly bitter abrasiveness.

Growler from local shop. Clear amber in the glass, 1 inch head fades slowly leaving a light lace on the pint glass. Light citrus and pine aroma, disappointed it wasnt stronger. Delicious bitter flavor, maybe too much for the malt backbone, ever so slightly. Im a hophead, but I do appreciate balance, its really a matter of individual preference. If you love hoppy bitter ales, might be a favorite for you.

3/3/14. Bomber. 2014 harvest single hop #291 Yakima. Pours light copper golden yellow. Slightly hazy. Beautiful two finger frothy head that changes into nice lacing. Light hop nose. A little citrus and a little fruit. Surprisingly non-West Coast hop profile in taste. Mild somewhat delicate hop mouth with the same citrus and pine balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: APR 20, 2014 The beer pours to deep amber/brown color with a thick white head. The aroma was floral with some citrus notes. The taste was that of fresh cut grass with a citrus flavor to it. The overall beer was very well balanced & had a great flavor to it.

On tap @ MAD Copenaghen. Ambrata carica velata schiuma beige a bastanza fine non molto persistente. Aroma fruttato esotico mango\paszion fruit, zucchero filato, resinoso da luppolo. Gusto secco poco amaro\ piacevolmente luppolata. Non molto corposa poco calda e mediamente carbonata.

It is a thing of beauty, and it is delicious. Had a very reasonable (as it was lunchtime) 3/4 pour at the Village Wayside Grill while watching Canada beat the USA in Olympic Hockey.....(could have helped with the high rating). Pours copper orange with a 1 inch head and looks as good as a beer can look. Nose is typical Sierra Nevada hops- lots of pine and citrus. Taste in awesome- all those great west coast flavors coming together. Mouthfeel is where it gets interesting- the wet hops almost lend a richenss to the mouthfeel. Not fuller like a stout, but almost creamy. Pretty unique. Will be looking for this one this fall at the tasting room practically in my backyard. Yum.
