Smokey Spice aroma’s a touch of caramel.
Amber in color, off white pillow head.
heavy bitterness, light sweetness,
full body, lively carbonation,
bitter finish.
2012 Bottle from Dan Murpheys.
Not really impressed at all, if anything the finish bitters are to overpowering.

Pours a clear reddish orange color with a nice frothy light tan head. The smell is some caramel malt, grapefruit, pine and some fruity notes. The taste is a blend of the caramel malt and the grapefruit and pine ending a bit dry and bitter. Nice carbonation and medium body. I was excited to see this at the store in Germany so I grabbed it though it might not be super fresh due to the shipping though it was still a tasty treat.

Poured from a large bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a hazy amber-straw color with light sediment and a big creamy-foamy off-white head with very good retention, and sold cling and lacing. Its aroma featured strong notes of pine, citrus, and grass, along with a light presence of malt and yeast. The beer had a pleasant pine and citrus hoppy bitterness with a slight sour effect, and a very light sweetness. Its body was very wet and full, with good carbonation and fizz, and was a touch watery with a thinner finish.

ca. 66cl bottle - Sierra Nevada IPA being one of my gateway introductions to US IPAs, I must say I expected much more from this, especially more flavoursome hops and higher drinkability. I can see this is a well-made brew, but the focus on piney hops makes this a very palate-cleansing, and despite the moderate ABV potentially skull-splitting malty IPA. Reminds me of the Stone IPA family of awe-inspiring angustura IPAs, brewed to command respect more than induce infatuation... Drinkable and a good bitter IPA in its own right, but I’d prefer Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo any time to this costlier seasonal option. (BE reference: Palm Royale minus Belgian malts + WA hardcore hop treatment).

Beautiful beer. Outstanding aroma, colour and taste. The mouthfeel is spot on as well. I was also impressed with the bottle, perfect amount.

Bottled at Kaisla. Hoppy nose. Pale slightly beige head. Slightly hazy golden colour. Slightly sourish dry and hoppy taste. At the end hoppy bitterness. Not very sweet.
