12oz bottle. Sierra nail another one. Interesting to see them pull of really solid lagers. Rich caramel and amber malt tones, perfectly balanced by a subtle hop bill. Pretty much all you could ask for in a true to style example. Great.

Rich malty and crisp. True to style on a warm late summer night. From a sampler 12. Wonder how new this is as I seek out Oktoberfest ratings.

Pours a ruby-orange with a long lasting off-white head. Sweet malty aroma. The flavor is rich and malty with some toasted malt character and a hint of spicy hop at the end. The finish is clean and fairly dry. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a dimpled mug. The label has a brief description of the beer and it lists the abv at 6.2% abv. Appearance: The body has a nice deep coppery amber color with good clarity and some visible carbonation. From the slow pour I got a tall three finger head. It’s just off white in color slow fading. It also leaves some lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell: It’s aroma is fairly light but brings all the classic Oktoberfest/Marzen notes to the nose. Sweet malty caramel, medium roasted grain and earthy/leafy hops. Taste / Palate: The flavor is packed with sweet caramel and whole grain bready maltiness up front. The middle adds a bready nutty character and then this is all backed up with a firm earthy/spicy/leafy hop presence. The hops add a good balance of hop bitterness as well. The palate feels firm and well rounded. It’s carbonation is right on and keeps things lively and very drinkable even at 6.2% abv.

Pailhead (4783) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - AUG 30, 2014
Bottle: The aroma is very light and consists of light caramel, faint earthiness, and nuts. It pours a transparent dark amber/copper with a two finger creamy beige head that slowly fades to a thick film. Each sip leaves a nice soapy ring of lacing. The flavor starts with light-moderate caramel with a hint of fruit. The finish has light-moderate toasted nuts with some earthy hoppiness. It’s light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.

medium clear amber, 1 finger of tan/off white head. Nose is caramel. Bittersweet. Middle is dark roasted malt mixed with molasses, oozed over dark bread. Yum. Finishes slightly drier. Nice.

Brown amber clear. Thick head and lace. From Sierra Nevada fall multi pack. Mildly dry, even palate. Only a fair pairing with roasted peanuts and salty snacks. Stands well on it own though.

skmikeg (882) - Poway, California, USA - AUG 24, 2014
Pours reddish amber-brown with a two finger tan head with pretty nice lacing. Aroma is of toasted malts, caramel, floral hops, apples, sweet malts, and some light grassy hops. Taste is about the same as the aroma. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a mostly sweet, medium finish. Overall, a pretty nice, above average Marzen that is both drinkable and complex for the style.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a reddish amber with a medium eggshell colored head. Decent lacing, but the head fades into a film on top of the glass. Aroma of earthy hops, caramel, toffee and caramel notes. Flavor is rich, caramel, chocolate, and nutty flavors. Full bodied, average carbonation. This is pretty nice.
