3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Sippin by the River ’05. Lots of brewers sporting their fest beers. Sierra with an honest example of the style. Great malt, easy on the hops, clean fermentation.

Interesting toffee flavor. It tastes authentic, but not my style. Two to go.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear deep amberish copper under a thin foamy off-cream head. Lovely caramelly biscuit nose with a earthy bit of grass--perfect Oktoberfest aroma. Lovely biscuity flavor thats caramelly and rich and bright. A bit of grassy hops and very light bitterness with a little pilsner grains. Superb Marzen.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Light mahogany color with a thick cream colored head. Aroma is very toasty with some caramel and earthy hops. Flavor matches the aroma perfectly. Medium bodied. It's been awhile since I've had an Octoberfest but this one is decent.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very nice! Bottle from Fallpack at local Smith’s. Comparing this to Sam Adams Octoberfest - no contest whatsoever! Smooth, mellow, amber color with nice, full, lingering white head. Bready, doughy, earthy, roasted, and hearth-like. All things good and fall in a bottle. Question: Why doesn’t SN offer this as a stand alone in 6s, 12s, and growlers? The Nut Brown and the Vienna Lager are ok I guess, but including their standard Pale Ale in a "Seasonal" collection like this is just plain a rip off. I’ll be searching this one out on tap locally to to see if I can remedy the situation.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear dark amber to copper pour with a tall, chunky to creamy beige head that has great retention and leaves decent lacing. Aroma is cereal, toffee, spicy, herbal and floral hops. Flavor is toffee, caramel, a touch of molasses, a hint of anise, crusty bread, and floral, herbal and spicy hops. Medium body, syrupy to slightly chewy feel throughout and medium, somewhat sharp carbonation. Good stuff, a very robust, dark malt take on the style, but good nonetheless.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
This looks and smells fine, but the beer is much too sweet with caramel malts for my taste. A common trend with oktoberfests for me.
