4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Corked and caged 750 ml bottle with a warning that contents are under pressure. Heed the warning! The cork started popping out on its own as soon as I took the cage off. Pours a crystal clear gold with a gigantic fluffy white head, great retention, outstanding lace, and tons of rising bubbles. Light fruity aromas featuring lemon, pear, apple, black pepper, light malts and Belgian yeast. Pepper flavors accentuate a mostly light malt sweetness, with the aforementioned fruits adding a modest tartness. Light body, exciting effervescence, sticky mouthfeel, and a crisp finish. And extra points for the cause.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Solid pop of the cork. Deep hazy amber with rocky white head. Moderate to heavy carbonation. Soft nose of lemon citrus, biscuit, light vanilla, clove, spice, and yeast. Flavor is lightly sweet biscuit and wheat malt with gentle spice. Finishes slightly tart and acidic with lemon citrus and a light carbonic kick. Carbonation clears the delicate sweetness and leaves behing a clean dry finish. Another success in the series.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750mL bottle purchased at Nugget in Woodland. Holy fuck. About 1-2 seconds after removing the cage, the cork just blew off this thing and hit my ceiling, followed by the beer gushing over. Scared the shit outta me. The aroma on this is relatively faint, with some light barnyardy esters, and not much else. Perhaps a little white pepper. The pour is amazingly carbonated, but after the head settles, there is a mostly transparent golden body and a huge, bubbly white head present. Starts a little spicy with hints of white pepper. Becomes a little olive-like in the middle. Light rubbery flavors come through in the finish. Dusty, lightly barnyardy yeast notes come through towards the end. Finishes dry, and lightly bitter. Meh.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A very soft pour into my Bruery tulip still manages to net four fingers of foam and multiple sessions over the sink in getting rid of the overflow. The beer is a pale amber color that shows a brilliantly clear, bright, yellow-gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of pear cider, dried, straw like, grain husks, a hint of pale wheat crackers.
The beer is quite dry and light bodied, but there is lots of fruit character that leans towards pears and floral fruit notes. The finish has a touch of sharp alcohol, a bit of solvent, definite clove, and a hint of hop bitterness. The fruit character is the most prominent note here, but it is well balanced by the mixture of bites (previously mentioned) in the finish. There is just a touch of grain character here, perhaps some dried grassiness, but really the malt is almost completely dried out here.
This is actually a great example of a Belgian Golden, clean, crisp, light, with lots of yeast character, but somehow it doesn’t quite do it for me. This is actually quite a good cut at Duvel, perhaps I am just not in the mood.
