Ovila Abbey Quad with plums is heady with aromas of caramel, rich malt, and dark fruit-balanced by the spiciness and delicate fruity notes of a traditional Belgian yeast. This beer features sugar plums grown on the grounds of the Abbey, and harvested by the monks in Vina. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Pours a mahogany color with a light tan head. Aroma is sweet of plums, yeast, caramel malts, and some spices. Flavor is strong of the plums up front with the yeast and spices after. Plenty of warming on the finish as well.

~Strong spicy belgian yeast phenolics, with caramel, brown sugar and dark fruit. Alcohol present in aroma. ~Pours a very dark brown almost black color with small off white wispy head. ~Rich malty flavors of chocolate, caramel, and roast, spicy belgian yeast with raisin, tobacco, and plum. ~Full bodied with medium low CO2, lingering spicy burnt finish with residual sweetness. ~A beer worth trying. I wouldnít buy again. Much better beers similar to this one I would rather have. Still enjoyed it and would be happy to drink more.

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - cage corked 12.7 oz bottle - ruby red/dark brown pour, tight off-white head that clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma is luxurious with some chocolate accents, a hint of brandy and some plum accents. Flavor is full-bodied with some sweet plum and date goodness, a touch of dark chocolate, some hints of brandy, a wee bit of molasses and brown sugar. Thick, sticky rich mouthfeel. Excellent early winter warmer on this chilly early spring evening,

On tap at Fordís Garage Ft Myers,FL...beautiful purple black with a fantastic earthy-fruit aroma. Big and complex, yet subtle flavor of ripe dark fruit and well worn leather. This has a very vinous character to it and a nice silky mouth feel as well...awesome.

A color that could only be considered purple-brown. The head is proud and gelatinous, shimmying a-this way and that atop the liquid. The aroma is puzzling: first of all, very heavy yeast. But not the kind of yeast youíd think of as "Belgian" yeast, but more like banana and bakerís dough. The luxurious head has something to do with this: Iím coming back to it.....Okay Iím back: the plum really starts to emerge after the head stops blocking it and it warms up a bit. The flavor is heavy yeast: more raw dough, banana and clove. The plums come in as a VERY weak accent. Once it warms up a bit, the raisin/plum flavor starts to emerge a bit. The feel is a thick, yeasty brew; incredibly chewy. You absolutely *have* to let this one warm up a bit. I might even recommend pouring 1/5 of the bottle at a time. The yeast is almost a delicacy: Iím sure my primitive palate canít appreciate it. But I kinda wish it was toned down just a shade.

Dark color, heavy chocolate aromas, very sweet taste, even for a quad. Brown sugar, molasses notes.

Rcvd in trade. The appearance had a dark brown close to a black colored body with a one fingered white foamy head that concaves at the edges once it dies; lacing slides into the body. The smell had some brown sugar, plums, light raisins and then takes the Belgian yeast to combine subtly and give a spicy sweet aroma to pummel my olfactory senses - wonderful. The taste was spicy and sweet at the same time; sticky sweet and spicy aftertaste, dry lingering sticky sweet finish. On the palate, it sits about at a medium on the body - closer to a sipper, carbonation runs fairly smooth around my mouth and tongue and is good for the most part for the style and for me. Overall, I say this is a good Quad well worthy of coming back to.

Tap. Dark pour with off white head. Smells of plums, hops, malts and alcohol. Tastes like a Belgian strong with plums. Very good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
