COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ovila Abbey Quad with plums is heady with aromas of caramel, rich malt, and dark fruit-balanced by the spiciness and delicate fruity notes of a traditional Belgian yeast. This beer features sugar plums grown on the grounds of the Abbey, and harvested by the monks in Vina. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Bottle-purchased at Guacamole’s in Las Cruces, NM June 2013 Pours almost pitch black with a very small lite kacki head around the rim of the glass-just remained was a fizzy head. nose is of dark fruits, tannens, lite vanilla, caramel, plums, rasins and a hint of roast. flavors exhibit the dark fruit character very nicely with alot of character- plums, rainins, spices-lots going on here. palate is lush, slick and very full with some lively carbonation, but not too much. long dark fruit finish with hints of nuts, spice and dark fruits. this is quite a good take on this style, something i would even have again (a style that i think its good, but not something i seek out). very nice brew!

Quite complex and very good. Has typical quad flavors paired with delicious plums. Has notes of pepper, bubblegum, banana, cloves, plums, raisins, figs, and orange zest. Tastes great.

C&C 375 mL bottle from Bruisin Ales. Pours a dark brown color with a thin fizzy light brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of bready malts, brown sugar, spice, caramel, dark fruits. The taste is tart fruits, dark fruits, bread, brown sugar, spice. Medium bodied, slight lingering spice, slight warmth. Nice beer.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, reddish, mostly opaque, slight off white head. Nose is fairly fruity and boozy upfront, lots of yeast, caramel, banana, bubblegum, clove, dark fruits. Flavor is similar--fairly heavy, lots of boozy fruit, dark fruity and light bitterness in the finish.

On draft at Mission Liquors. It pours dark amber with an off white head. The aroma is bright with dark fruits. Mostly cherry and plum. The flavor is super fruity with raisins, plum, cherry and wood. Lots of maltiness. It has a full body with a little spicy, peppery yeast in the finish. Pretty nice stuff.

Bottle. I was impressed with how this quad was done. Normally, if it isn’t from Belgium, quads are crap. This brew however tastes good. The plums are not very prominent, but you d get a hint of them.

Bottle. Dark brown colored pour with a tan head. Smell is fruity, full of plums, a little bit of hops. Taste sweet and fruity, plenty of carbonation, dark sugars, and malts. Pretty good beer that improved upon the original quad. Im really liking these beers offered by Sierra Nevada.

12 oz bottle, Andersons, around $3.79. Deep dark garnet pour is nearly opaque; tan head. As this warms, the aroma becomes just a spectacle; deep, dark caramel, malts, vegetable, spice, grape, banana, vanilla, chocolate, roast (!), oak, tobacco or patchouli or leather, WOW. Really sweet and the tobacco thing in the flavor really stands out; notable grape/plum. Body is medium and approaches frothy. 10.2% abv does not show a bit. A lot of people talk a lot of shit about Sierra Nevada but this one proves them all wrong. Killer.
