Ovila Abbey Quad with plums is heady with aromas of caramel, rich malt, and dark fruit-balanced by the spiciness and delicate fruity notes of a traditional Belgian yeast. This beer features sugar plums grown on the grounds of the Abbey, and harvested by the monks in Vina. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Very dark brown. Beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, and some booze. Tastes of plums, alcohol, and sweet fruit and malt. Medium full body and woody dryness.

Solid.

2013/03/17 - Pours a dark brown/red with a small tan head that dissappates quickly. Aroma is dark chocolate, plums, raisins and alcohol. Taste is similar to nose with a boozy, dry finish. Thick, sticky mouthfeel with lots if carbonation. Very nice American quad. Would definitely drink again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thoroughly liked the addition of plum to the already stellar Ovila. Just wonderfully complex with the deep fruit characters and the warm, malty quad. Aged my first for about a year and it mellowed quite nicely.

Draft at Drafting Room. Poured hazy plum colored with minimal head. Nose was caramel malt, plum, yeasty funk, tart fruit. Tastes yeasty, funky, tart, plummy, with a great balance, delicious flavor, and a tremendous fruity, tart, yeasty finish. Holy shit, this one is good.

Murky brown pour, huge beige head. Huge spicy, fruity aroma. Huge notes of plum, fig, even some banana with a solid dose of spices, mainly cardamon, and cloves. Uber complex. Solid mouthfell, great body. Semi sweet finish with a nice, yeasty aftertaste. Gorgeous beer.

If God could prove he made this beer, I would be born again. Wow, this is America's version of a fine Belgian Quad. The fruits and aroma are perfectly balanced. I certainly hope it's continued next season. ---Rated via Rumors Bar Pottsville, PA 570.622.8687

Wow - spicy fruit jumps out the glass - mirrored on the palate plus sweet Choc malt after-taste - interesting drinking but not something I can drink much of - massive in all ways: sweetness, body, alcohol and spicy complexity - almost overwhelming!

355ml bottle from Archive. Great aroma, flavour and mouthfeel. Full in the mouth with a good body and big alcohol kick.

Aroma is fruity with tons of plum notes. Sweet dark caramel and toffee notes with some toasted bread and just a hint of roast. Light cherry and prune notes as well. Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a moderately thick dark tan head that slowly but steadily recedes. Medium light lacing with moderate legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with toffee and caramel with some light roast. Moderate plum character with lighter notes of cherries and prunes. Medium light astringency in the finish along with some roast and prunes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Medium astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall an alright beer but the finish is not very palatable. The astringency is off putting as is the roast character.
