COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ovila Abbey Quad with plums is heady with aromas of caramel, rich malt, and dark fruit-balanced by the spiciness and delicate fruity notes of a traditional Belgian yeast. This beer features sugar plums grown on the grounds of the Abbey, and harvested by the monks in Vina. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours very dark brown/black in the wide Ovila goblet. Sort of garnet when viewed through the edges. Beige head. Aroma seems fruity. Med + body. Flavor is plummy and malty. Initial flavor has a strong aspect - almost pepper/spice. Heat is noticeable and contributes to the strong flavor. Seems to develop chocolate notes. Finishes nearly dry, fruity and not very bitter. Excellent. Got 4 bottles in the shop!

Mahogany pour with minimal carbonation or head. Nose is sweet caramel, brown sugar, and plums. Very jammy, a hint of spice, vanilla, chocolate, and alcohol. Very light roasted malt. The flavor has an excellent plum character, plenty of caramel, toffee, and brown sugar. Light roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and mild spices. A hint of alcohol on the finish. Essentially flat. A little carbonation would have been nice.

Reddish brown pour, light head. Flavors of brown sugar, belgian yeast, a fruity note, lots of raisins, bread. I don’t get a big difference from the original. Still a good beer.
