COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ovila Abbey Quad with plums is heady with aromas of caramel, rich malt, and dark fruit-balanced by the spiciness and delicate fruity notes of a traditional Belgian yeast. This beer features sugar plums grown on the grounds of the Abbey, and harvested by the monks in Vina. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Bottle - Dark reddish brown pour no head. Aroma of banana bread with a bit if dark dried fruits. Flavor is a bit off, not bad but notes of spice I can't place along with banana and clove. Mouthfeel is good. Good beer, not great.

B. Julie says. That she is unsure if she likes there is a dark fruity after taste that she does not like she gives a 2 but the plums are bothersome after taste and she does not like ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Head is initially small, frothy, brown, fully diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, chocolate), with notes of overripe banana, alcohol, raisin. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy/watery texture, lively/soft carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. Simple, like the other Ovila brews, but certainly drinkable. About average.

From bottle. Aroma is dark caramel syrup, cola, sharp alcohol, browned banana, cardboard, wood oil and apple. The alcohol becomes overbearing as it warms and begins to resemble herbed spirits. Some dirty yeastiness in the aroma smells somewhat like marmite yeast extract and circus peanuts. Full body, sweet, low carbonation, sticky and syrupy in the mouth with some hotness from alcohol. Rough and raw.

On tap. Pours a transparent ruby color with a thin white head. Aroma is yeast, hay, and spice. Taste follows the aroma. Not as much of a plum or dark fruit presence as I would have liked.

"A tiny step down from the original (non sugar plum release) due to a bit more residual sweetness and alcohol bite, but still damn good. Dark fruits, brown sugar, plums, tobacco, sugary sweet. Almost overwhelming, but quite tasty. Kinda going towards a three Phils with the quad fruit hybrid."

Tap at the Old Toad. Orange-brown, cloudy, with lace. Nose of plums, cinnamon and spice, caramel, apples or mulled cider. A bit too light for a quad, in color and body. More like a big fruity tripel. Good, but has that typical "American attempt to brew a quad" lack.

Aroma is sweet and a little boozy. Notes of dried fruit (raisins), cherry. The plummy warmth creates a sherry-like quality. Smells almost liqueur-like. Taste is very sweet initially (a little cloying) with sweet-ripe fruit. More cherries, plums. Toasty-malt residue before a light spicy bitterness. Some alcohol warmth. Decent balance and super flavor profile. Just a feeling that the alcohol taste needs reigning in a touch . Good sipper.

Dark brown pour with about a finger of foam. Dark fruit, caramel, and alcohol on the nose. Plum, malt, caramel, and a mild alcohol finish.

Dark fruits with candied sugar on the nose with a hint of booze. Bitter hop slap at the end with good carb. This bottle was aged at least eight months and is super smooth.
