COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ovila Abbey Quad with plums is heady with aromas of caramel, rich malt, and dark fruit-balanced by the spiciness and delicate fruity notes of a traditional Belgian yeast. This beer features sugar plums grown on the grounds of the Abbey, and harvested by the monks in Vina. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Small corked-caged bottle from Debucas. Poured into a snifter. A dark purplish-brown-black brew. Thin tan head that settles to a thin lace. Aroma of sweet dark fruit with a tad bit of alcohol. Flavor is deep and earthy with dark plum sweetness. Very smooth and complex. Nice earthy yeast finish.

Bottle sampled at Classic City Brew Fest 2014. Pours a hazy copper brown with minimal bubbly head. Aroma is big on the dark fruits, both from the addition and the yeasty esters. Taste follows, nice malty balance and a bit of a boozy burn. Very nice, but I think I may like the original better.

Bottle. Pours a deep, burnt amber with surprisingly no cap. Aroma is a lot of plum, cereal, burnt caramel, a touch of sweat. Taste is a balance of sweetness and saltiness. Low carbonation, sticky mouthfeel, very late dry finish. This ones all over the board, but not in an unpleasant way.

Bottle from Brusin’ Ales. Pours dark, dark brown with a thin brown head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Nice plum notes on the nose. Big fruit and molasses notes on the tongue. Finishes clean and doesn’t leave much alcohol on the tongue. Nice!

Pours a mahogany color with a light tan head. Aroma is sweet of plums, yeast, caramel malts, and some spices. Flavor is strong of the plums up front with the yeast and spices after. Plenty of warming on the finish as well.

~Strong spicy belgian yeast phenolics, with caramel, brown sugar and dark fruit. Alcohol present in aroma. ~Pours a very dark brown almost black color with small off white wispy head. ~Rich malty flavors of chocolate, caramel, and roast, spicy belgian yeast with raisin, tobacco, and plum. ~Full bodied with medium low CO2, lingering spicy burnt finish with residual sweetness. ~A beer worth trying. I wouldn’t buy again. Much better beers similar to this one I would rather have. Still enjoyed it and would be happy to drink more.

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - cage corked 12.7 oz bottle - ruby red/dark brown pour, tight off-white head that clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma is luxurious with some chocolate accents, a hint of brandy and some plum accents. Flavor is full-bodied with some sweet plum and date goodness, a touch of dark chocolate, some hints of brandy, a wee bit of molasses and brown sugar. Thick, sticky rich mouthfeel. Excellent early winter warmer on this chilly early spring evening,
