COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ovila Abbey Quad with plums is heady with aromas of caramel, rich malt, and dark fruit-balanced by the spiciness and delicate fruity notes of a traditional Belgian yeast. This beer features sugar plums grown on the grounds of the Abbey, and harvested by the monks in Vina. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Dark brown color with small off-white ring of a head and messy oily lacing. Aroma and flavor have huge malts with dark vinous fruitiness. Definite raisin plum notes in the flavor. Sweet and spicy- pretty good

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is full of dark fruit and sugary esters. Flavor is a definite plum with some dark candi sugar and maybe some fig and dark honey. Pretty sweet drinking now and maybe that will go away after time. Still this is a pretty good quad. Again a bit on the sweet side but plenty of dark fruit and a heavy molasses mouth feel.

Small head with a small Lt brown head than left behind a dark red brown semi-opaque colored body. Mild nose sweet and candied. Smooth semi-vinous heavy candied fruit flavor.

Rated on 02-26-2015 at Chop’s Steak & Seafood (Fort Wayne, IN) This bottled beer has a small tannish head that mostly diminishes and a semi-opaque chestnut body. The aroma is malt, caramel, dark fruit, semi-sweet, and alcohol. The flavor is dark fruit, spice, alcohol, malt, some caramel, and has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel has mild carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, an excellent beer and a great beer for celebrating my birthday! This is a beer that I hope to have again and is worth trying.

[Tap] Opaque dark brown pour with a large and lasting foam head. Sticky sweet aromas of figs, brown sugar, banana and molasses. Notes of plum, apples, grape must, candi sugar, yeasty spice and some alcohol in the taste. A lot going on here. Sticky toffee finish. Decent. Tasting notes from 9/2014.

Tap at Brouwer’s Cafe, Seattle. Colour is almost black with slightly brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Massive plums, dark fruits, dryness, some Belgian yeast and malts. Quite exceptional quad with massive dark fruitiness.

Pours very dark in color. Smells of spice and plumbs. Very little white head. Taste spiced, sort of a wine feel to it. Finishes with a nice spicy plum taste. Over all a nice quad. I had this from a bottle.

Pours dark brown with a reddish tint and dense tan head. The aroma has rich malt, dark fruits, plums, abbey smooth yeast, red grapes and rich / sweet malt. It has a fairly full body with frothy flowing somewhat sharp carbonation. The flavor starts drier than the aroma and has spices and really shows how nice of a layer the plums add to the this beer - helps so much. The finish adds more spice, licorice and that dark Belgian ale sort of taste. There is a bit more of a bite than expected. Really nice quad.

A nice quad, very wine like. Pours a nice deep amber with very little head. Smells of fruit, berries and bourbon. Taste has lots of berries, with some port, and bourbon in the finish. Had on tap at the Torpedo Room for SF Beer Week.

Bottle. Dark dark ruby almost black. Low carbonation w thin head. Aroma of sweet wort, raisin, candy, some oak. Smooth malt caramel vanilla oak taste. High alcohol content well hidden. Highly recommended for the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle of the 2013. Pours deep walnut, stiff tan head. Aroma of banana and spice. Taste is malt, sweet, spice, maybe some plum? It’s pleasing, not spectacular. Plum grows as it sits, which isn’t necessarily amusing.
