COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An homage to the monk’s noble work, this unique farmhouse ale is incredibly complex with notes of lemon, pepper, straw and herbs balanced by the tang of Mandarin oranges and a spicy kick of pepper. The Mandarin oranges used to make this beer were locally grown, including a portion grown on the grounds of the Abbey of New Clairvaux and picked by hand by the community of monks living there. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Pours light orange with plenty of soap bubble head. Nose is lighter toasty malt, musty orange like smell, some yeast. Tastes peppery, orange, orange rind, bitter. Dryish and soapy and slightly sticky.

Bottle. Pours clear golden amber with thin, fizzy white head. Aroma is cereal and toasted malts, light straw, faint caramel, orange peel, and light spice. Flavor is dry malts, light toast, light citrus esters, faint spicy hops, and some farmhouse yeast esters; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

saison with a nice addition of pepper. The pepper really stands out in the nose and is well complimented by the yeast and citrus/wheat notes.

12.7oz bottle. Unfiltered orange-tan body. Creamy off-white head. A pretty tasty beer, not sure it really nails Saison though, the body is really creamy and yeasty. The orange and pepper accentuates the herbal funkiness of the yeast strain, which isn’t really a bonus. Some banana tones. Quality feel, great mouthfeel. Good but not really a definitive example of the style.

Bottle cheers to the Phoenix guys for this one. Shared at Five Bar. Pours hazy orange with a small white cap. Nose is very pepper driven with silky smooth mandarin, sultana and apricot. A touch of straw behind the vibrant fruits. Taste is very mandarin and apricot forward while some dark fruits also come out to play, the pepper is toned down in the taste with more emphasis on tropical fruit. Super smooth and not overly farmhouse driven which is a surprise. Goes down a little like treacle - quite sticky and sweet. Unusual and very solid

Bottle. Crystal clear golden pour with a small, dissipating head. Aromas of mandarin and black pepper, as expected - pretty straightforward. This is exactly what I hoped and expected of it - nice fruity notes dominated by fresh, clean mandarin orange flavour, some subtle spicy notes of black pepper and other lighter spices rounding it out. A bit of yeast and a little heat from the alcohol. A very nice saison that delivers what it promises.

Draught that kicked the keg. Pours a mostly clear orange amber with a thick white head. Nose has a nice funk to it with just a bit of orange coming through. Taste is quite light and fresh, without the sourness and harshness of a lot of saisons. Interesting.

375ml bottle, caged&corked. Orange hue, no foam. Smells of grain. No carbonation. Bad cork? Tastes of malts, some tangerine essence. Finishes with sharp peppery tingle on the tongue. Dry finish with flavor of black peppercorns. (4159)

First CA beer in well over a year. My friend Robert H. picked it up at Judicious Spirits in Mountain Home, AR. Aroma: Definitely some orange, but also gummy yeast; a touch of cheesecloth; pepper subdued. Appearance: Nearly still, clear copper pour with a white head that settles into a white ring. Flavor: Gummy yeast up front with some fruitiness (banana and lemon mostly); a little more peppery toward the finish with orange rounding things out. Palate: Light body, slightly creamy texture, very soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: Quite enjoyed this; well done.
