COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An homage to the monk’s noble work, this unique farmhouse ale is incredibly complex with notes of lemon, pepper, straw and herbs balanced by the tang of Mandarin oranges and a spicy kick of pepper. The Mandarin oranges used to make this beer were locally grown, including a portion grown on the grounds of the Abbey of New Clairvaux and picked by hand by the community of monks living there. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Light amber to gold color with a thin white head. Aroma is similar to banana bread with a touch of fruit. Flavor is a little fruity and bready with a bit of banana flavor. A little too sweet in the finish. Wife: 3.8

From the stamp on the bottle, it looks like this was bottled March 28, 2014. Gorgeous pour here. Depp golden colour with a huge head of foam that leaves lots of lovely lacing behind. Big spicy nose with notes of pepper, cloves, lemon, and oranges that add a slight hint of tartness. Dang, ditto for the taste. So true to the smell. The cloves and pepper go so well with that big lemon and orange, spicy hop, slightly tart flavours that it’s scary. I do get some mild biscuit that seem to grow as the sipping continues. It’s also cool that the abv is very manageable. The mouthfeel seems slick with perfect carbonation and a nice medium body. I think this is a very fine effort from Sierra Nevada...my favourite of their Ovila series.

Bottle. Moderate cereal and caramel for the malt, heavy perfume, herbs and orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with peach, dried apricots and sherry in the background. Head is small, fizzy, slightly off-white with slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy dark amber orange. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium and little slick with a lively carbonation. Big hop complexity and a strong malt backbone from this Saison.

Bottle pour. Sour orange, citrus aroma. Quick fading head. This beer comes off as a little sweet at first, but turns bold in the finish with dark fruit. Not quite getting as much peppercorn as I was expecting, but overall I love this beer. Very well done.

A little over sweet, sweet finish, malty murky flavors. Maybe too old? Oh well too many beers

Cask @ GBBF 2013. The pour’s gold with a small head. The nose is of bright orange. Sweet perfume hops. The taste is of pear and orange fruit salad. Belgian yeast. Sweet muffin mix. Medium body, soft carbonation. Decent.

12oz Bottle with a cork. Poured a rust orange color and delivers that rich saison flavor with a hint of sweet fruits. Has a tang in the taste and the texture is slightly cloudy. Delicious and well brewed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

orange to copper tint slightly hazy, aroma mostly of spices, some citrus. first sip peppercorn really hits you, but still very complex with some citrus notes, oranges and mandarin but more mild than the pepper. taste very earthy noticable for some yeast as well. very interesting flavour down to the last sip, highly recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Poured a clear orange copper color with am average off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate citrus fruit and dark spice aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Good complex brew.
