An homage to the monk’s noble work, this unique farmhouse ale is incredibly complex with notes of lemon, pepper, straw and herbs balanced by the tang of Mandarin oranges and a spicy kick of pepper. The Mandarin oranges used to make this beer were locally grown, including a portion grown on the grounds of the Abbey of New Clairvaux and picked by hand by the community of monks living there. We hope you enjoy this collaboration ale.

Light amber to gold color with a thin white head. Aroma is similar to banana bread with a touch of fruit. Flavor is a little fruity and bready with a bit of banana flavor. A little too sweet in the finish. Wife: 3.8

I am a fan of Saison-style... And this one certainty does not disappoint. In fact, I believe this could be my favorite beer of this fall. Bottle at home. Mouthfeel is bread, creamy. All spice, pepper, maybe a little honey. Nice citrus notes. Love this beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home, purchased from ABC Winter Haven. Aroma is Belgian yeast, peppery, hay or straw notes. Pours a golden blonde with a fluffy white head that dies out. Flavor is crisp citrus notes, some peppery flavors, spices. Overall, it’s quite dry. Not bad.

Pours clear amber with a thick and frothy eggshell head. Aroma starts with a malty core and then adds orange, pepper and herbal tones plus a snip of woody hops. Distinctive, and enticing! Flavor delivers all that the aroma promises, except that the fruit component is stronger, and has a bit of lemon; a little yeast comes out as well. Mouthfeel is firm and features a strong and lasting fizz. Get monkish!

12.7 oz bottle. A very hazy orange to yellow with suspended solids and effervescence. Aroma is a yeasty, spiced, overripe orange. Slightly tart with a sweet, juicy finish. Peppery notes, oranges, lemon juice, biscuit, a just a touch of funk. Pepper hangs around.

Draft at Bricks. Pours mostly clear golden amber with nice white head. Nose is mild orange and funk. Taste is nice orange and funk. Don't get the peppercorn until the aftertaste. Good.

Bottle shared with Mark Tanaka. Dark amber orange pour, pretty small head. Orange saison nose. A bit sweet, a bit sticky, hints of pepper, orange certainly. Quite tasty as a belgian ale but I don’t really understand why American brewers -- even SN which can brew a killer saison when they try -- aim for >7%.

Bottle - big foamy head, hazy very dark straw color, medium fruity/orange aroma and flavor, mild yeasty peppery spice at the end, good malt backbone, very good overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle->tulip. Dark copper with big frothy offwhite head. A: yeast, herbs, grains, pepper, citrus. T: bitter and heavy grains, yeast, pepper, citrus rind. Moderately heavy for a saison. Eh.

375ml c&c bottle from Xroads. Poured a honey amber body with a smaller creamy light beige head. Aroma of yeast, citrus, white pepper, bread, crackers, fruit skins, green apples. Flavor is less fruity than the aroma, notes of apples, grapes, crusts, toast, raisin bread, light citrus, hint of caramel and spice o the back end. Not really the citrus and pepper beer I was expecting.

A spot on brew. The beer tastes true to the flavor notes. A handcrafted quality feel to this one. Flavors follow through all the way into the finish. And hot damn, that’s some peppercorn right there! ps-smell the cork!!!
