3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Picked up at Brewforia Eagle for about $4... definitely more expensive than other places in town, but I was in Eagle, so.. oh well.
Pours with a surprisingly short lasting white head atop a clear orange brew.
The aroma shows clovey phenols combining with the citrus... quite a bit of residual pale maltiness IMO.
Flavor is more leaning toward the esters with some pear and banana.. still a decent amount of clove... the citrus and peppercorn flavor merge more toward the finish... still too malty
Body is heavy for a saison... carbonation is also a bit light adding to the heavier body.
Decent beer at a decent price if I purchase elsewhere.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at the parentals. Pour is orange-amber with a small white head and great lacing. Fruity, herbs, bready, basil, caramelly, orange peel, and sage in the aroma. Taste is bready, crackers, orange peels, coriander, lemony, cereal, tangy, and peachy with a dry crisp finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Decent stuff.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice, easy drinking beer. Not you typical Saison, heavier and sweeter and overall a richer and deeper complexity than most saison style beers.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
375ml bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours an essentially clear, amberesque body with a two-finger-high cap of near white foam.
Smell: Lightly toasted bread, toasted grains with a layer of sweet-scented candied glaze. Faint flash of sourishness. Banana, aromatic orange, coriander, pepper.
Taste: Sweet caramel, toffee in the foreground atop the malted wheat. A little, light banana. Candied orange (a bit tangy) dusted with a little pepper, a little coriander. Some stern florals ahead of a stronger, bitterish orange oil presence. Still remains rather candyish, sweetish on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation, fighting back some stickiness.
Overall: Don’t get me wrong, I am still on-board for this whole Ovila deal, but I WAAAY preferred the no-thrills Ovila Saison over this new, "now with more stuff!" version.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A: Golden Straw/Orangish Hue, Passes Most Light, Thick White Head, Decent Lacing
S: Wheat, Yeast, Light Pink Peppercorns, Mild Orange Candy
T: Wheat, Yeast, Pink Peppercorns, Orange Syrup
M: Decent Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Mildly Drying, Mildly Sweet
Overall, I dont know if it is just me but it seems like all the flavors are just a little too forced...I could be way off on this but the wheat is way too up front, yeast very forward then the oranges taste very syrupy...couldnt get over it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Beer pours a golden orange with a quickly disappearing 1 finger white head. The aroma is spot on. Some nice mandarin orange, pepper notes popping out here and there. Some definite barnyard funk undertones. A little bit of the grassy citrus. Maybe some dry vinous notes, like a wine barrel and a hint of the alcohol. On the palate, there is a somewhat aggressive carbonation that leaves a dryness in the middle. A little bit of the funk coming through in the palate. Some slight orange mixed with the lemony citrus. Not quite getting the pepper notes as heavy as the nose. Some bready malts coming through and hints from the yeast as well. Some pepper on the finish. Dry, some alcohol warming down the throat.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2012/11/11 - Pours a hazy orange-amber colour with a small, off white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is Belgian yeast, citrus, coriander, cloves, bubblegum and wheat. Taste is sweet malts up front, with a citrus and peppery backbone. As it warms, oranges become more prominent in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium, with biting carbonation and a crisp finish. Nice American saison. Big fan of the entire Ovila lineup. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
