3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Corked and caged, slick-looking bottle from Samís Quik Shop. Pours a clear orange with a smallish head. Nose of orange marmalade, saison yeast, and a mild earthy hop character. Taste just barely adds a hint of pepper. A bit sweet, but not bad.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Grumbler purchase from Breeze In, Juneau AK.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a transparent bronzed copper/orange color with a two finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. There wasnít much lacing.
The aroma smells like someone took some oranges and sugar coated them and lightly spiced them with a peppercorn flavoring and then spiced them again with a light coriander.
The taste was extremely sweet with a decent under current of controlled spices of peppercorn and coriander. The aftertaste seems a bit different than expected as the spices take over which lead to dry spicy finish.
On the palate, this one sat right at a medium in body. Thereís a really nice sessionable aspect about this that seems to encourage me to indulge in more.
Overall, what a nice smooth spicy and sweet saison. Thereís even a slight refreshing quality going on. I might have to go back to the store just to get some more.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a semi dark amber with minimal tan head. Strong aroma of orange and peppercorns. Some belgian yeast notes come out in the straw and sweet clove as well as the smell of banana bread. Flavors burst in the mouth with sweet orange and bubblegum notes. Slight spice from the pepper. Not as dry as you'd expect from a saison. Very enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12.7 oz bottle, corked and caged. Nose is very sweet, heavy candy with sugared/candied plums, red berry jam, just loads of fruit in the best Belgian tradition with good yeast contribution and cherry, prune, raisin, lighter citrus. Just a little booze. Ultra-clear orange-red with above-avg carb and a short-libed beige head. Taste is semi dry, scratchy with late kick from the black pepper, good stiff malt with herbal and earthy hops to balance. Slightly oily with a lot of alcohol heat, but itís the classy kind so Iíll let it do what it wants (probably combining with mild black pepper spice heat). A bit scratchy on the back of the palate and throat, some strong cherry and orange marmalade, vanilla, faint herbs with subtle ester/phenol development. Great melding and blending of many flavors, and fresh and clean all over. A little too much air in the medium-full body and thereís a sense that itís been filtered beyond recognition, but otherwise Iím in love!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the bottle: Clear copper orange with some cream colored foam that settles soon. Aromas of honeysuckle, hay, mandarin, yeast, some alcohol. The flavor opens with some bright citrus and fruit, atop solid bready abbey ale, adequately not overly sweet, with a slight pepper bite and a touch of alcohol warmth. Slightly syrupy, it thins a bit with warming. I think itís well done; a delicious alternative to hop blasts or lower abv warm weather brews.
