Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a delightful example of the classic pale ale style. It has a deep amber color and a exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. The fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor are the results of the generous use of the best Cascade hops.<P> Bottle Conditioned.

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2016 Bottled 33cl. Color : clear golden ale with nice white head. Nose : citrus, floral hops, yeast. Nose is a bit poor in my opinion. Aromas : citrus and cereals. Dry texture, high carbonation, very nice bitterness for this style. A nice pale ale!

Can at a friend’s house. Every time I drink this it takes me back. Back to one of the first "hoppy" beers I ever had. Back to when this would be considered hop-forward. Now it tastes firmly middle-of-the-road. The hop flavor is subdued and kinda piney and menthol-y for my taste. But still, it is the benchmark for the whole style and it deserves some serious respect.

Clear golden colour with big, but quickly diminishing head. Medium intensive aroma of citrus, floral and light malty background. Taste is light sweet, medium bitter with medium long bitter/sweet finish. Soft to medium carbonation. Medium body. Decent and drinkable stuff.

I was introduced to this brew by a friend probably 15 years ago. Haven’t had it in a number of years though, so I thought I should see how it stands up today. Pours slightly orange-amber. Lots of carbonation. Smells faintly of mild pine. Thankfully, taste is more pronounced than the aroma. Still hops, but slightly stronger and a little spicy. Little bitterness, nice and smooth with no aftertaste. There are better brews these days, but this one still compared favorably.

0.33 l bottle from Alko Ruoholahti, Helsinki. Well, time to add this classic beer. Appearance is amber and clear with a OK head. Looks more like bitter than most modern APAs. Taste is not just citrus like hops like the modern APAs. This is more complex beer. The hops are between citrus and bitter European taste. Also malts are presented quite nicely in the mouth. Very well balanced. Yes, more close to English Pale Ale than the numerous followers of this style.

Light orange, quite hazy with some carbonation visible, head is not big but dense and persistent. Aroma shows caramel malts and resinous/piney freshness, with a bit of fruitiness underneath. Taste has a caramel malts base, resinous/piney hops, some floral hints and a bit of lemon. Sweetness and bitterness in good balance with a moderately bitter finish. Light to medium body, average crispness, quite easy mouthfeel. Overall this is a well made and quite refreshing beer.

APA excesivamente cítrica, con demasiadas notas a piel de lima y mandarina. Cuerpo ligero, fácilmente bebible, con un gusto suave y final breve.

Fast fading foam and scent one must persevere to unfold. Once done it’s not unpleasant, just a generic tamed hoppiness between the citrus fruit (lemon-grapefruit) and pine needle domains. After a few minutes a quizzically alluring rotten smell seeps into the hop fumes. The taste is overwhelmingly that of gritty, chewy pilsner, even slightly candied, grains and almost absent of what was expected in the aroma. The late aftertaste does harken back, however, to those lemon-like, bitter fruit hops. But it is the mouth-filling bread crust malt character which dominates.

Hoppy aroma with notes of pine and orange. Slightly opaque amber colour. Sweet-ish front with fruity notes that changes into a mild bitter finish. Medium body with lively carbonation. Great brew.
