4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 11, 2003 i really enjoy this beer and also love their unfiltered wheat.....this beer is a classic APA.....just a WONDERFUL beer!..re-rate...full of tasty bittering hops...still has a nice malty quality to it...balanced APA, but overall body seems a bit thin.

Good Beer. I don’t usually go for a Pale Ale so the marks are a bit off the average. I am not the biggest fan of a very hoppy beer but this one was better than normal. Do I taste wine? It did put me over the edge tonight so it also gets some points there. If you like pale ale, you will love this.

Let it be said I LOVE this style. I had a few (4) bottles of this while I was working my grill. Have you ever noticed your ratings go UP as you drink more than one? Me too. Anyway, this solid brew pours a perfect hazy amber (tiny particles of yummy yeast). The huge rocky/frothy off-white (more white than off) head is mostly to fully lasting with good lacing. The lovely nose is mostly grapefruit (go figure - APA) with the addition of toasty hay/straw, pine, moldy cheese (yum!!), and earth. The balanced flavor is heavy with a beautiful long bitter (yeasty, nutty) finish). The crisp, SMOOTH, creamy satisfying palate is light to medium with soft carbonation and a moderately clean (astringent) finish. Warning - HIGHLY QUAFFABLE, DON’T IMBIBE BEFORE WORK - UNLESS YOU HAVE A CALL-IN TO SPEND!!!!!

It seemed bitter and a little weak, a little too ’pale’ for me.

Good hoppy pale ale. Very distinct flavor. I like Bass a little better.

A great pale, nice hoppy flavor and aroma, balanced with a pleasent maltiness, deep golden color.I can drink this all day, and sometimes do!

I can see why this beer gets so many good ratings. It has a wonderful hoppy flavor and is really crisp.
