4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is the standard by which other American Pale Ales are judged, and rightly so. Typical nose of Cascades hits you straight from the glass. Excellent bitterness and hop aroma profile. There is some malt there, but it is hidden mostly by the hops. It is good in bottles and great on tap. Readily available, this is my favorite beer in a pub as I know I will get a consistently good beer that is well hopped. Personally, I'd prefer that they play around with EKG-Fuggle flowers in the conditinoing tank, rather than Cascades, but thats a beer for another day.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 11, 2005 The standard all-American pale ale. Cottony white head and metallic-orange body with moderate-low carbonation and dense fine dry hop particles. Bright, citrusy Cascade hops in the nose when fresh. Aroma also has an underbelly of fruity pale malt and a briny note. Well-balanced citrusy spice and woodsy hoppiness and lightly toasted malt character in the flavor. Nice medium bitter finish. Freshness is essential. Lifeless bottles of SNPA are depressing. Often the best beer readily available on tap in the Southwestern U.S. and elsewhere. There seem to be very few beers brewed in such large quanities that still maintain decent quality like this one. On the flip side, this beer is so common that it can get boring.

Great hop, citrus aroma. Great cascade hop flavor. The benchmark for American pale ales.

This is kind of my standard that I set all other pales by. I can always come back to Sierra Nevada and always be happy. This beer, is just hoppy enough has a good complex flavor that has a nice hoppy bite in the aftertaste. Crisp and clean in the finish, always enjoyable.

12 oz. Superb pale. Smooth hops, crisp clean finish. An amazing aroma that my nose isn't adept enough to describe.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
The first time I had Sierra Nevada Pale Ale was during a visit to San Francisco in the mid-90s. It was also the last time I had this beer before today, thanks to the fact that it is unavailable in Canada. My appreciation for great beer has increased a lot in the years that have passed since then and now, so while I thought it tasted good back then, it's only now that I recognize the true greatness of this beer. From it's beautiful dark golden hue, to it's sweet & floral aroma, to that heavenly blast of hops that hits the back of your tongue as you swallow - it's a true classic.

Oh, I LIKE this. Pale orange color. Tall, sticky looking white head. The bitterness of the hops just slightly rides over the maltiness, but overall well balanced. Nice and easy to drink. A good gateway beer for budcoorsmiller drinkers to help them move up in the beer world.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 29, 2003 The definitive American Pale Ale, and with good reason. It's crisp with a nice hop bite to it, very much like an IPA. Definite citrus presence in the flavor. This is a great beer on tap or in the bottle.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2003 Good pale ale. Dry hop taste without too much bitterness. Smooth and crisp. Stong hops and citrus taste, yet it finishes so smnooth. Amazingly crisp and clean.

Had on tap. Golden, pilser like body with a modest head. Aroma was of hops. Taste was of dry hops, slight malt and predominately of grapefruit tart. Swell carbonation. Definately the best choice I could have made out of the usual bud, miller, coors, bass selection. Not bad
