Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a delightful example of the classic pale ale style. It has a deep amber color and a exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. The fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor are the results of the generous use of the best Cascade hops.<P> Bottle Conditioned.

I remember the first time I tried a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It was (at that time) the most different beer I’d ever had. It was the early 1990’s and I had just moved from Michigan, where I’d been exposed to mass-produced tasteless beers all my life. I’d fallen in love with Samuel Adams lager, which was quite hard to find due to the relative lack of distribution. The aroma from the spicy hops hits your nose as you pour it from the bottle. The beer comes out with an amber-orange color with a perfect amount of foam and fantastic lacing in the glass. The bitterness is not overpowering, but adds just enough to counterbalance the smooth caramel maltiness. The mouthfeel is wonderful, and although not thin, it doesn’t come across as a heavy beer. The perfect carbonation combined with the wonderful taste gives this a drinkability like few other beers, and this is my everyday go-to beer (and has been for almost two decades now). This is Sierra Nevada’s flagship beer for a reason. It can be a session beer or an accompaniment to a gourmet meal (or pizza or burgers).

So refreshing! So many levels of aromas! Crispy and in good measure spicy. Mountain purity. Liquid gold. One of the best labels I have ever seen. Fresh green color is so good for this beer.

Poured from a bottle it is a clear golden color with a slight head. The aroma is citrus and the taste is a strong bitter citrus flavor with some tangy spice

I find that many craft beer drinkers underestimate this ale. This is the ale that helped our cause! Still my favorite go-to for regular drinking and refreshment, crisp drinking with cascade aromas and wonderful vitamin B provided from their yeast in bottle conditioning. Hats off Ken Grossman to a great company with a staple that helped people switch to good craft beer!

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2014 Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with awesome off white thick head. Aroma of hops is too old. Mellow fruits, elderflower, bready malt, slight slight citrus. Taste is sweet malts, caramel, dry hoppy finish. Some pine and mellow citrus fruits. Sessionable. Like it a lot when fresh. Medium well carbonated body. Some sediment.

One of the first hop forward craft beers that I tried back in 1994. A true classic APA. Still good. Light citrus and pine hops on a grainy malt bill. Medium-light body with a slightly sharp, spicy hop finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Fotex, CPH - amber coloured pour white head. Aroma and taste is medium sweet fruity and malty, pleasing hoppy citrus notes, biscuity caramel malts, enjoyable and dependable.

Bottle (just realized there were separate entries for bottle vs draft) - good size foamy head, light copper color, fair citrus and pine hop aroma and flavor, well balanced by biscuity malt, good overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
