Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a delightful example of the classic pale ale style. It has a deep amber color and a exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. The fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor are the results of the generous use of the best Cascade hops.<P> Bottle Conditioned.

A-- Pours a clear golden straw color. Few carbonation beads showing after pouring. Two finger off white head. Quite nice and thick. Good body to the head. Slowly recedes to just under a finger and leaves a nice, thick, slightly soapy looking ring of lacing with this. Good beer to look at. S-- Toasted bread, Carmel, soft but apparent pine, orange and grapefruit. slight spiciness to this. Very solid backbone to this. T-- Warm toasted bread, good dose of Carmel, orange, and grapefruit. Soft but gnawing bitterness in the back of the taste. M-- Medium body, medium carbonation. Fruit really builds in the mouth. Straightforward but solid taste of orange and grapefruit. Touches of metal here and there that disappoint but a good long lasting finish. Slightly oily in front and mid but finishes bread dry with a good orange finish. O-- Are there better pale ales out there? Probably. Yet, have they been this consistent for this long a period? Probably not. Forgot how easy to drink this is and just what a good, solid beer it is. Just a classy beer as it is.

Bottle. Pours nearly clear lightish amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of hops and needles, with notes of malt and fruity touches. Bitter, hoppy flavour wit notes of citrus, malt and fruit and subtle estery and caramellish hints. Bitter aftertaste with citric hints. Well-balanced and non-aggressive. Decent stuff.

5.6% ABV. American Pale Ale. Poured out a deep amber, 16ºSRM. Nose was a rich malt sweetness. Over ripe fruit. Pronounced carbonation. Graham cracker, pie crust with a pronounced corn syrup sweetness, almost syrupy, but nicely blaanced by the carbonation. Pronounced hop bitterness to leaven all the sweet malty flavors. There is a piney finish. Very good. Very likeable. Nostalgia helps put this on Favorites List. I mean, this is the one of the pioneers that started it all.

Aroma: Orange, mango, yeast. Palate: Medium body Flavor: Sweet malty dried mango, caramel and sweet orange. Quite dry finish. Comment: I felt this turned thin rather quickly. Not bad, but not as good as I remember. This may not have been a fresh bottle.

Bottle - clear golden with large frothy head. Very pleasant mild hoppy aroma - constant small carbonation. Smooth in mouth and on tongue. Good bitter citrus tasting - Nice beer.
