3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
During the hellish-hot Alabama summer of 2012, when my A/C was broken, and I could not survive at times without having a fan blow directly on me while I sprayed water on myself, I would occasionally crave a good, cold brew to guzzle while I watched Dawn of the Dead.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale was one of the better ones.
Keeping it slightly cool in the 6-pack, which was in turn inside a double-packed plastic bag, I partake of this fine ale that night the snake crawled out of my couch, and onto my leg (or was I drinking Yuengling in cans at the time? I can’t remember as I was drunk and trying to catch that snake that to this day I pray was not a copperhead).
Quality stuff, and I’m happy to say that my local BP station carries it for a mere $7.99 per six pack, as opposed to a dollar more at the Kangeroo station across the street.
I am also about to tackle some right after I type this - tally-ho!

Well balanced pale ale. Heavier on the malt than a lot of more modern pales, and the hops and bitterness are subdued somewhat. All the same, a tasty beer and easy drinking.

12 oz from bottle into tulip. A style-defining beer. Exactly what I think when I think pale ale. A little citrus, a little malt, a lot of flavor without being overpowering

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
355 ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange with an off-white head. The aroma is hoppy with pine needles and some hidden citric notes. Medium body with medium carbonation. The taste is a little fruity with grapes and berries and a solid lightly sweet malty backbone. In the end a mild hoppy bitterness comes into play

Not much aroma, but once poured has a good golden appearance. Taste is gentle not overly malty, with mild aftertaste on the palate. Overall a good beer but not stand out

Amber mit flüchtigem Schaum, Aroma dezent nach Zitrusfrüchten und malzig (Brot), im Geschmack überwiegen trockene hopfige Bitteraromen, schwach carbonisiert, lange bitter anhaltend

Dark yellow, honeylike colour with a medium white head. Nose is neutral. I poured it into a plastic glass (had nothing better, other option was the bottle.) Taste is low bitterness. No hoppyness nothing. Huge disapointment.

Love this beer, first tried it in the USA and surprised me as at the time I was not sure yanks could brew ale. And although mass produced is a nice drink

Originally rated on 9/22/08. The first time or two i had this i thought i was rather average, however after repeated tastings this beer seems to get a little better each time, or maybe i just appreciate it more. Pale ales arent my favorite style but this is a pretty good beer. It is a nicely balanced, flavorful beer with floral hops dominating the aroma and flavor. Smooth and refreshing its is one of my favorite pale ales.

Bottle. Pours in clear pale body with medium white head. Aroma has light citrusy aroma, earthy background. Taste has medium citrus bitterness with medium malty sweetness. Very refreshing and well balanced. Body is full with high carbonation.
