4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
I have intentionally not rated this beer before. This will be my 100th rating and I figured I would use the opportunity to comment on what I feel is a grave injustice. So often these days you hear people disparage SNPA as being boring or not as big as it used to be. I think the problem lies not in this great beer, but in the "Imperialization" of craft brewing. Everything has to be bigger, hoppier, smoked or oaked or many turn their nose up at it. The mentality seems to be if it doesn’t go to eleven it isn’t worth drinking. While this bigger is better philosophy has produced some truly great beers it has also caused some great beers, like this one, to get marginalized. As I am typing this I look below at the top ratings for American Pale Ales and see a list of beers that are really examples of IPAs. How can SNPA not be among the top APAs? It invented the style for crying out loud!
OK, rant over, SNPA really is a great beer from the mouthwatering citrus aroma, to the decidedly hoppy, but beautifully balanced flavor, it is a true classic. Could it have more of everything? Of course it could, but then it wouldn’t be an APA

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Brown bottle, 350ml, tesco. Scent is slightly bitter pale malts, a bit like pilsner. Pours medium golden with a thin white head subsiding quickly. Taste is slightly harsh, too cold. Pale malts and a nice hoppy bite. Grassy, lime zest. Finish slightly greasy. Good

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A 12 fl oz bottle with a packaged date of 17th March 2015 and poured into a pint glass. The beer poured an extremely clear copper colour with a two finger slightly off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving some stringy lacing. Mainly piney aromas along with some citrus lemon and grapefruit. Some bready malts also come through. Pine hop taste along with some bread, biscuit and caramel malt. There’s also a hint of orange and some bitter finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, I’d drink this pale ale again, but I do prefer my pale ales with a slightly less pine, and more tropical fruit flavours instead.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours golden with a good white head. Smells of grass, hops and cardboard(??). Might be old (as most American beers seems to be at Vinmonopolet) but still rather good.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
W aromacie nieco herbaciane, żywiczno - owocowe, typowy Cascade. W smaku troszeczkę zbyt suche, lekko herbaciane, goryczka średnia. Pijalne i bardzo gładkie. Całkiem ok.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle poured into a shaker. Bright clear gold with a white head that covers the top nicely. Carbonation is very nice - a strong steam of bubbles. The aroma is heavy on the pine with slight floral and citrus notes. It has a light to medium body with a malty caramel flavor that gives it a bittersweet finished.
