4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Golden yellow.
Smell: Grassy and earthy.
Taste: Nice balance. Crisp hops. Mid-tone malts. Nothing overwhelms anything else. The model of what a Pale Ale should be.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and light body.
Drinkability: A pale ale that aims for and hits the straight-down-the-middle pale ale target. Bullseye. A Classic for a reason.

12 oz. bottle.
Just what you want in a pale ale. A beautiful marriage of pine and citrus aroma. Orange and clear with a solid white head. Taste is clear, citrus.

Bottle as part of the snow pack. Bottled 9/6/14. No idea how I haven’t rated this, but tonight is the night. I’m sure with 4100 ratings of this beer my rating is going to make all the difference in how the world sees this beer. My nuanced critique will blow your fucking mind.
Rearranging the letters of "Sierra Nevada Pale Ale" unveils their secret agenda: "reinvade paella areas" -- obviously a call to launch an assault on Spain. How dare you, Sierra Nevada. How dare you.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
In short: citric and fruity bitter beer.
Aroma: citric and hoppy.
Taste: starts soft but packs a punch of biterness in the end (more IPA than normal Pale Ale)
Palate: bitter finish and very drinkable.

"lacking in the floral aroma that i like in pales and ipas, and a little more bitter and dry than i like. it is better on tap, but i’ll usually pass this one up for something better. gets a little more kudos than i think it deserves."

Reviewed On: (5/22/14):
*Serving: 12 oz
*Aroma: citrus, orange, flowery, grassy
*Appearance: Pale amber with a frothy white two finger head, which stayed around for the duration of the beer. The beer left some good sticky lacing around the glass.
*Taste: Caramel malt upfront, pale malts in the middle, and cascade hop at the end. Magnum and perle hops in the bitter aftertaste..
*Palate: Light bodied, slick mouthfeel, fizzy carbonation. Finishes very dry, w/ an abrupt bitter finish.
*Overall: I usually buy IPA’s over Pale Ales, but this one is a great example of a pale ale done right. It has a nice hoppy bitterness, but not overdone where it is a borderline IPA. A staple for the style. Sierra Nevada is one of the pioneers in the American Craft Beer revolution, and this ale is a strong reminder of how it started.
