gfolivares (62), McAllen, Texas, USA May 14, 2008 Beautiful deep amber/copper color with a thick, rocky head and good lace retention. Complex bouquet of heavily fragrant hops with hints of yeasty dough, earthy citrus, and the flowery perfume of orange blossoms. Equally complex taste which begins with a gentle malt sweetness which quickly gives way to a robust hop bitterness with suggestions of tart grapefruit juice, and pine oils. Finish is an appetizing, powerful, and uncompromising all-hop finale that is long, lingering, and warming. There is no denying that there is a heavy hand of hops in this brew. Without question, the prototypical American Pale Ale, and a world classic for years to come. Very versatile, try with a hearty steak dinner, or a heavy meaty stew.
