This version has slightly less alcohol, bitterness and slightly more color than the bottled version. The hop varieties and malts used are the same.

This is a really great tasting Pale Ale. All the flavors come together perfectly.

Pours a half finger of head on a clear dark straw colored body. The aroma is a faint grapefruit smell. The taste is moderate lemon zest and grapefruit bitterness. Good balance. The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation. It’s an enjoyable beer.

Tap - good size foamy head, dark gold color, nice earthy & citrusy hop aroma and flavor, good malt backbone, moderate bitter (in a good way) finish - of course it's very good overall, it's one of the "classics" ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted 6/3/2014. Draught at "King O’Malley’s Irish Pub", Canberra. Poured a clear dark golden amber with a 5mm off-white frothy head that diminished quickly to a collar. Laced OK. Carbonation medium with large bubbles. Aroma subtly of sweetish malt and a trace of floral hops. Taste maybe with a trace of malt but over-ridden by earthy hops bitterness. Light to medium body. Slightly dry. Slight bitter finish. OK. The bottled version is much better.

Backlog, tried a number of times. The archetype of an american pale ale....

Post-exam commiseration/celebration with classmates, so short review. Keg at All Bar One Moorgate. Dark amber, clear, sparkling, white head endures. Aroma and flavour is cheesy indistinct hops. Second pint from a fresh keg - more or less the same but this one has slightly more caramel and butter with lemon overtones.

Draft. Pours a medium, well retained off white head, over a clear dark amber (SRM 15) body.....nose is light pine, citrus peel from the hops, light roasted notes from the malts, minimal esters....taste is light toast, biscuit, from the malts, moderate pine resin bitterness from the hops.....mouth feel medium body, light carbonation with mild acid finish. This is a fairly typical APA. The malts are a bit simple and would be better with a slight change in recipe. BJCP 7/3/14/4/6

Have drank bottles for years and consider this one of my goto beers. So rather than buy cases I got a keg. Wish I had taken the time to realize it is not the same becaue this one has less hop aroma, less taste, and is more like a lager than an ale. Last keg I buy! Better off buying the bottle version. Only good part is the really nice head it forms off the tap that holds on for most of the glass. So nice to look at but not so much to drink.

Old tick, truth be told never really noticed a difference form the regular. It never was fresher or more drinkable.
