MadMan (478), Tempe, Arizona, USA Apr 24, 2008 Draft. I guess I didn’t realize this one was different until I had one yesterday with lunch and it seemed off. Nice malty and hoppy aroma. Flavor was moderately bitter and pleasantly hoppy, nothing too big noted. Finish was clean and short. I’ll pay closer attention next time.
ethomson (24), Huntington Beach, California, USA Sep 1, 2008 Updated: Sep 3, 2008I don’t know, Sierra Nevada just doesn’t do it for me. I know how popular and loved this pale ale is, but to me, it’s way to pale and dry. The pour is a nice dark amber, almost a hint of red to it, with a nice creamy white head. The aroma is very pleasant, slightly sweet. This beer has too much bite, it almost resembles a mouth full of pennies, as it has a coppery aftertaste to it. I love pale ale’s, this one is just a little too manly for me I guess. ilovedarkbeer (712), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 27, 2008 It was not until recently that it was brought to my attention that this beer is not the same in the bottle as it is on tap. After a recent side by side comparison, which I found interesting there is a distinct difference. Take standard SNPA, take away some of the bite, and full bodied finish and you have this beer. I did not notice a color difference but there is just something missing from the draft verison. jujubeast6000 (484), Houston, Texas, USA Aug 20, 2008 (draft at Sherlock’s Bay Area, Houston, TX): Pours a reddish, golden body. Whitish head, good lacing but not very lasting, and small. Hoppy malty aromaj some gaapefruit. Somewhat bitter on the front, malty on the aftertaste. Not very nutty Flattish. Okay, not as tasty or hoppy as the bottle. urnamesucks (92), New York City, New York, USA Aug 20, 2008 One of my favorite pale ales. Sierra Nevada needs to keep up the great work. MaltDawg (289), Richmond, Virginia, USA Aug 20, 2008 Off taps Capital Ale House. Slight pale malt aroma with floral grassy american hops. Clear golden amber with small fine white head. Grassy floral hops with tea like overtones over moderate malt sweetness. Medium body with dry finish.
