33cl bottle from onlyfinebeer. Most enjoyable. Dark brown with beige head. Roast malt/chocolate/vanilla/caramel aroma. Good medium mouthfeel. Good roast finish with a little hop bitterness coming through.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Chico countyís version of a porter. This one is smooth, a bit roasted, but without the common nutty flavor found in many porters. Not too malty. Nothing dominates or jumps out as acutely descriptive of this one.

Sept, 2003: Bottle. Smooth and malty with a nice mix of caramel and cough mixture. A very pleasant and easy drinking bit of the dark stuff. Iíll have another!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice thick head for a porter and decent lacing. Aroma is very weak and smells like stale chocolate. Flavor is slightly roasted malt, chocolate, and rice. Aftertaste is kind of a dirty mouthfeel and of wheat.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nearly black with a hint of red. A nice sweet and roasted nose. Chocolate, milky. The roasty flavor prevails, with a decent hop bitterness to accentuate the roastiness. Not very complex, but tasty and enjoyable. Extremely well balanced and it coats the palate well. Solid. Overall a very fine offering. On a side note I had a bottle from 1982 of this in 2004 and it held up amazingly well.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: DEC 2, 2004 Bit new at this so Iíll make it short but sweet. Average tasting compared to others Iíve had (which are not alot but really good!). Would have given higher overall if not for aftertaste which was a bit sour or bitter?? A bit watery tasting as well. Not watered down, but watery? Iíve re-rated, it began to taste better to me over the course of the six pack. Not the most technical rendition but will have to do until I get the hang and sample more beers.
