3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
#200. Translucent dark ruby-brown color and a well-retained cottony beige head. Aroma of raisins, peppery hop spice, chocolate, roasted malt, and a hint of anise. Flavor of roasted malts with some nice fruity sourness and a crisp hop finish. An easy-going, medium-bodied palate. Subdued but quite an enjoyable porter overall.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2007 A nice, easy-drinking porter. Had little head. Smelled strongly of alcohol. Could have benefited from stronger flavor.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Some sweet chocolatey malts, some burntness and some vanilla. Nice soft, citrusy hoppy finish. Leans towards the hops more than the malts, kind like drinking a dark IPA or something. Quite enjoyable and easy to drink. Tasty (Bottle- GBBF 03')

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black in colour with a tan head. Aroma was roasty, with dark chocolate and coffee beans. Flavour has medium roast, coffee, slightly sweet and slight bitterness. Finishes slightly sweet with a medium dark chocolate bitterness.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Smells and looks very inviting. Very dark brown with a medium head that diminishes fairly quickly. Creamy nose, and the malt flavor comes through quite a bit. Very well done.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer pours very dark, with a small white head. Aroma is of malt, and a little nutty goodness. Flavor is a bit sweet, but I don't taste much chocolate, as others seem to.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 14, 2003 This is probably the first Sierra Nevada beer I've had where the hops are not the distinguishing feature. Although not screaming with Sierra's signature, this still had that bite to it. Deep burgandy body with a decent head, smells strongly of roasted barley, and lo and behold it tastes like it too. Nothing too fancy going on here, pretty much a standard porter with a touch of hops, but nice and roasty, and definitely tasty.
