Originally rated on 5/23/08. I am looking at a coffee black, fully carbonated, mid tan thick headed porter. The smell of roasted malt and toffee is slightly sweet. Flavor mirrors the smell, nice and smooth going down, good finish. Darn good porter from Sierra Nevada

0,33l fles bij tap Munich. Lijkt sterk op de stout met vooral chocolade en wat caramel zoete mout tonen. Iets minder vol dan zijn broertje.

Man, dialed in Porter. A little roasty plenty malty some cocoa. Freaking easy drinking. Decent palate.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20A). Bottle 35 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: balanced roasted aroma with a moderate floral-like hop aroma. the roast malt takes on a dar-sweet chocolate note. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and translucent with ruby body against light. large tanned head with moderate to good retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with a blend of moderate roasted malt (dark chocolate) and floral to fruity hops. Medium-low to low bitterness with a semi-dry and roasted finish with a faint bitterness from hops and roasted malts. the roasted flavor and hops are in balance. PALATE: medium body with a slight texture. medium-high carbonation. very faint astringency from dark malts. OVERALL: an american porter with balance between roasted malt and hops, giving it a good flacor and aroma profile. it would improve with mode bitterness.

Bottle from The Standing Order. Pours dark brown with a creamy fawn head. Aromas of nuts, milky coffee and roasted malts. Taste follows nose. Not as full-bodied as I had hoped/expected.

Ample off-white head, very dark with some carbonation. Smells of roasted malt, barley. Taste strong of roasted malt and a little bit of chocolate. Not too sweet, creamy smooth, nice.

Bottle from the Fullers brewery shop, black with a lacing head and a roasty nose with hints of coffee. Dry-bitter and burnt toasty, yet also creamy textured and faintly sweet, faint notes of liquorice, burnt treacle and red fruit. Delicious.

Bottle - 355ml. Pours a very dark brown body with a thin off-white foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with nutty and roasty hints. Its well balanced taste carries roasted coffee, earthy, and nutty notes. Ends with a decent roasty finish. Enjoyable.

Clear dark brown, huge frothy beige head, sticky lacing patches. Medium strong aroma, dry, lightly roasted malt, bit perfume(?). Light to medium body, thin feel, very light roast, dark caramel and fruit (dried), licorice, raspberry, low carbonation, quite short finish. Disappointed. Had this gone bad? Strange flavors, bit diluted. Have to re-taste some day.
