Pours a dark brown with a frothy, quickly dissipating head. Subtle aroma with hint of bourbon. Very nice beer

Hade väntat mig mer. Har den klassiska porter-rostningen i sig men saknar djup i kroppen. Nästan lite blaskig vilket är förvånansvärt då den ändå ligger på 5,6 %. Inte alls i klass med andra öl från samma bryggeri...

Transfer from BA review on 4-1-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a nice deep brown color with a billowy off white head. The head had decent retention and gave way to a moderate level of lacing. Smell – Aromas of caramel and toffee with bit of roasted malt are in the nose. They together create a nice sweet aroma. Taste – Sweeter flavors of toffee meets the tongue. There is a nice roasty and bready taste that is mixed with the sweeter flavors. These flavors lighten a bit as the taste advances and an ever so light hop flavor comes into play, which bitters the taste a bit toward the end. Mouthfeel – The body is a little above average in terms of thickness and the carbonation level is just below normal. For the most part quite average for the style. Overall – An overall enjoyable brew that is affordable and pretty east to drink.

Dark brown, almost black; large but rapidly dissipating off white head; aroma of roast malt, bitter coffee, hot chocolate; taste is roast malt; bitter; smooth; ok, if a bit one-dimensional; I could have murdered a bag of frazzles with this.

Sierra Nevada has established quite a reputation for making aggressive, West Coast style ales. While the brewery has certainly made a name for itself with hoppier brews, many of its darker beers are overlooked. Porter is one such underrated example. The brownish-black body is pitch-perfect and it acquires a lovely mahogany glow when held up to light. The tan head is sublime as well. Aroma is a little on the light side but you’ll be able to pick up pleasant toasted barley smells. To describe the flavor of this porter, Sierra Nevada uses the word "roasted" four times on the bottle’s labeling. It’s an apt descriptor, this ale does indeed have a rich bittersweet roastiness that points to coffee. Yet, it also features flavors of caramel, hazelnut, subtle vanilla, and spicy chocolate. Despite its complexity, Porter has a medium body and creamy (moderately sticky) mouthfeel. Given the price and availability, this brew deserves a lot more attention.

@ Havregatan. Flaska (350ml) från Systembolaget (31:-). Rostad malt och humle, kaffe och choklad, sötma och en hel del lakrits, medelbeska, medelfyllig. Avslutningen är något besk och torr tillsammans med kaffe och rostade toner.

Bottle. Dark pour with tan head. Smells of dark malts and slight smoke. Tastes of the same with some chocolate and coffee. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Completely dark bodied with minimal tan head. Coffee nose. Aroma is coffee, caramel, hops, cocoa. Bitter sweet coffee finish. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. All in all, a great porter.
