Bottle. Finally getting around to rating this. Session with Moroney in BKLN. Pours ruby-brown with a creamy, tan head. Chocolate malt aroma. Flavor is sweet with light cocoa, dark fruits and mild coffee. Thin to medium in body with average carbonation. Light roast finish with some more sweet malts. Solid beer overall.

Bottle. Pitch black colour. Nice light brown average lasting head. Lovely aroma of roasted malts, some bitterness, chocolate, sweetness (caramel). Creamy flavour in the beginning of chocolate and then the roasted malt, along with some bitter hops, coffee and a nice bitter though soft long lasting aftertaste. Just so great a brew indeed INDEED INDEED! That snowy mountain (Sierra Nevada) sure know the art of brewing.

Nice and quite lasting head and the aroma has notes of dark roasted malt. The flavour has notes of dark roasted malt, bitter chocolate, strong licorice and bitter coffee. It has a strong bitterness all the way through and it has a nice bite. IMO it would have been nice with more dimensions, but it’s clearly a nice porter!

Bottled: Brown and black coloured. Light brown dense and lasting head. Nice looks. Roast, butter and malt in the flavour. Light coffee, light roast, malt, chocolate in the flavour. Is a little thin bodied and dies quickly on the palate. It has the looks, but whats inside isn’t worth running for.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2004 Black, with a perfect head. Aroma is from toffe, and a little nutty. Flavor is from toffee, some butter and touches of cocoa. A great porter, sweet, but not too sweet. I want more of this...

Chocolate and licorice in the aroma. Hint of red berries. Thin. Roasted flavor with licorice and chocolate. Red berries. Dark chocolate aftertaste. Too thin to be really good, still a tasty porter.
