12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with about a finger tall tan beige head. Aroma of malts caramel and chocolate. Taste sweet, mostly of roasted malts, earthy but with a hoppy bitter end. Nice porter; an easy drinker, very smooth.

Bottle: Dark brown, ruby highlights at the edges, almost black in the center with a light-tan colored head; minimal lacing, moderate retention. Nose is full of roasted malts, charred barley, toasted nuts, wood chips, burnt toast, a small hint of coffee beans. Flavor is quite rich & has even larger notes of dry coffee & bittersweet cocoa dust. Underscores of roasted malt, mild char, & a hint of licorice with a small bit of acrid acidity towards the finish. Very mild hint of floral notes. Thin-medium bodied. A solid porter; no world-beater but pretty good.

Bottle. Dark brown/mahogany body, lighter than average. Aroma has soft roast and a bit of old milk chocolate. Creamy, but a bit light mouthfeel. Medium soft roasty taste with soft cocoa and cream. Smooth finish. Good balance and very drinkable but I prefer my porters to be darker and more robust. This would make a good session porter because it doesn’t wear out one’s palate too fast and it looks like it is one of the more widely available porters (at least in the US).

A very nice porter, excellent for the abv in fact. True to the (American) style, big in flavor, dominated by roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, hint of coffee flavors. Delicious and quite dry in the finish. A touch thin, perhaps, but it’s only 5.6%!
