Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head with massive lacing. Aroma was dominated by a delicious roasted malt quality and some chocolate. A good thick mouthfeel carried flavours of coffee, smoke and sweet roasty malts. A bitter dark chocolate finish.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, small off white head. Coffee, chocolate and some roasted malt to the nose. Taste follows aroma very well with a slight hoppiness. Mouth feel is smooth and creamy, body medium as well as carbonation. This is a solid Porter, not trying be something else or more. Great!

355 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Time Square, Causeway Bay.

Clear deep Cola blackish brown with chunky yeast sediments; Thin head and light beige foam which last for 1 minutes; Nice sticky lacing and notable carbonation; Fragrant sweet aroma of light roasted malt, vanilla, caramel, toffee, chocolate, cream, earth and light nuts; Pleasant light sweet taste of roast malt, smoke / ashtray, creamed coffee, light chocolate, light plum, nuts, earthy yeast, light citrus and grass; Mid to light body, slick and quity creamy palate; Taste profile is roasty dark malt in nice and well balanced, lightly bitter and sweet background, with very prominent smokey, ashy element to complement light chocolate and creamed coffee. Decent indeed; Hoppiness is earthy nose, nice light citrus, liquorices and grass, and low but lingering bitterness for a decent finish; Slightly dry after taste, pretty easy and smokey to mouth.

Comments: A pretty decent take on Porter with a lively smoke and ashy character to light up the show. A bit thinner, not as creamy and lesser dimensional than Anchor Porter, still a very solid, interesting and quite enjoyable for session. A good one.

Pours black. Slight red color in sunlight. Small silky off white head that sticks around for a few but doesn’t want to spend too much time with you. Smells like roasted grains and slight hoppy scents blended to perfection. Maybe some creamy scents? Tastes like a good Porter to me. I taste roasted malts and tasty hops. No surprises here. Good solid beer with good solid flavor. Makes my taste buds want to reproduce. I’d buy it again.

Dark foamy (albeit thin) head, with an nice aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Excellent color. It has a heavy mouth feel with a well balanced roasted flavor and medium, almost dry, finish.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with about a finger tall tan beige head. Aroma of malts caramel and chocolate. Taste sweet, mostly of roasted malts, earthy but with a hoppy bitter end. Nice porter; an easy drinker, very smooth.

Color caoba oscuro. Espuma beige clara no muy abundante, pero persistente. Aromas de chocolate y malta torrefacta. En boca es ligera y con un final amargo equilibrado que trae al paladar notas de chocolate y café. Buena porter.

12 oz bottle from Wilbur’s. Dark brown appearance with a nice and lasting tan head. The aroma is malty; caramel, chocolate, light coffee and a light roast. Similar flavor with a touch of vanilla. Malty, sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body with a smooth creamy feel. Nice rich flavor, pretty easy to drink. A solid porter.

Bottle at the parentals. Pour is deep brown, almost black with a slight red hue, tan head and great lacing. Roasty, light vanilla, marshmallows, somewhat earthy, grassy, light chocolate, and graham crackers in the aroma. Taste is dark chocolate, big roast, grassy/earthy hops, toasted bread, ligh my vanilla, espresso, and, bread with a light bitter/roasted finish. Light mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Nice sessionable stout, but could really benefit for some added body.

A - A semi-dark brown with bright chestnut edges. A 1 finger white head sink into a small formed collar and tight ceiling. S - Musty old grain that has heavy oxidation mold, hints of dry cocoa powder, burnt rubber. A dry shake dust hops creates a mineral bitterness. T - Same as the nose, burnt grain, black rubber material, hints of caramel and cocoa the tip of the tongue. M - Thin, high carbonation. I’m a huge fan of Serra Nevada but this porter is not good. I had it a few years ago and didn’t like it and I still don’t like it. Serving type: bottle 02-26-2011
