Bottle. Dark brown pour with a frothy, two finger wide tan head. Bitter, roasty aroma with some hints of cocoa. Roasted malt flavor with some dark chocolate and coffee in the finish. Watery texture with lively carbonation. A little thin but very smooth and easy drinking.

Jan 4, 2010 12 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured 20 % transparent very dark brown with tints of ruby and black, low carbonation, pillowy and foamy tan head formed, laced to a degree, and tried to hypnotize me. Aroma of a well roasted malt, tobacco, dark bakers chocolate, smoke, and all the good things in life. Hits the mouth with a high-medium body, very nice malt greets you- has a note of char on it though, some nice coffee and chocolate sensations in the middle, finish is lasting and lingering. Good stuff- good thing I still have my cigar I didn’t have on New Year’s- time to light that mother up...

Jan 4, 2010 Bottle. Pours clear, dark coppery brown with a foamy tan head that lasts ages. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, wood and a hint of smoke. Flavour is very similar, the smokiness is stronger and there is less of a chocolate note. Smooth, slick mouthfeel with minimal carbonation and a medium roasty bitter finish. Overall a very nice porter, on the light side, but highly sessionable.

Jan 3, 2010 Pours almost black, thin head. Some roastiness in aroma. Up front roasted malt flavors, some sweetness, hints of coffee. Medium body, roastiness lingers. A nice porter, but not at the top of my list.

Dec 31, 2009 Pours a deep brown with a bit of creamy eggshell head. Aroma has tons of chocolate in the front that’s supported by malt and coffee. Flavor is more of a bitter chocolate - coffee blend. Light body that’s slightly watery. Subtle bitter chocolate finish. A good example of the style.

Dec 29, 2009 Dark brown, cream head. Rich malt, light chocolate and coffee aromas with enough hops to make it smell savoury. Body is on the light side of medium. Creamy mouthfeel. Gentle but insistent hop finish. Subtle and balanced. Really charming.
