Bottle. Another classic that I fell in love with during my early beer geek days up for rating; this one has been largely unavailable in Norway a few years but is now back in the game. :-) Pours a deep brown-black body with a ruby taint and a medium creamy off-white head. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee and deep malty tones rounded off by a gentle dark berry-like fruitiness and hints of freshly cut grass. Taste is smooth roasty coffee tones, dark chocolate, nuts and hints of licorice and leather. Incredibly smooth and creamy mouthfeel, as I can remember being one of the captivating factors that made me love this beer. I still do, fortunately, as sometimes re-visiting old friends in the beer world can be very different than remembered...

The color is ruby brown when held up to the light. Has an off-white, khaki head and the frothy lace is quite abundant. Nice chocolate and light mocha in the nose. Medium bodied and creamy. Tastes of bittersweet chocolate, lightly roasted malts, cocoa powder, caramel, dried grass and light leafy hops in the finish. Quite enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice beer, I understand that someone might love it. However, it has that distinctive rye taste or something that I really dislike... Would not have it the second time if there would be a better choice.

Part of flight post-tour. Super solid porter although somewhat forgettable. Usual porter notes- chocolate/ coffee, earthy (willamette) and super roasty. About right weight/ palate- medium bodied. Tasty.

Bottle at tasting. Pours clear dark brown, thin off-white head. Big roasty aromas, coffee, malt. Taste is more of the same. Very light for a porter.

Bottle @ the Appellation Comely Bank tasting, thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - it’s dark brown rather than the expect black or brown/black. Nice head. Nose - nuts and toffee, some light chocolate. Some roast for sure! Taste - yep, more of the same. I’m struggling to see why this is called a Porter but it’s tasty enough. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a decent finish. Overall - this lies somewhere between a stout and a brown ale for me.

Good color, not as dark as a normal porter though. Good aroma and aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Light brown, neat tan cap. Smooth brassy nut. Sleek bitterness, soft roast and nutmeg spiced sweetness. Decent enough carbonation and fading bitterness. Clean and neat but lacking in any punch on the finish.

330ml bottle. Clear dark brown color. Small size, beige head, stays. Dusty roast, caramel, sweet, faint chocolate in aroma. Sweetish, roast, slightly nutty, minerals in taste. Feels mildly rough. Soft carbonation.
