Rain Check Spiced Stout is our answer to the merciless wet weather that plagued and slowed the construction of our new brewery in Mills River, NC. This dark, rich, and roasty beer helps us forget the delays - a Rain Check we’ll take anytime. Rain Check is a rich, toasty stout with flavors of burnt sugar and dark roasted malt spiked with ginger and lime to celebrate the end of dark and rainy days.

Medium bodied Imp stout that’s roasty and slightly sweet. Easy to 9rink at 9%. I don’t get any of the ginger or lime notes, but solid brew overall.

Cloudy black pour off white head .... Aroma of ginger mostly, spicy, roasted malts, chocolate and light lime .... Taste is roasted and of some ginger, burnt sugar, roasted malts, some lime and some dark chocolate .... Has a definite ginger prescense and a spicy hop/spice bite to it in the finish. ..... The bite lingers for a bit .... Abv hidden well and has a nice lively mouthfeel to it

Rather dry and a bit thin stout brought back from recent trip. Spices did not increase drinkability for me. Dark brown.

Bottle from a long time ago. Dark brown / black color with a tan head. Smells spicy, full of sugar, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is smooth, easy to drink, nice little hint of lime but not enough to be odd. Ginger is a good element to add as well. A pretty unique beer, and pretty good really.

12oz bottle into a snifter. Pours pitch black with a thick one finger off-white head. Awesome head retention and thick lacing all the way around the glass. Aroma is quite interesting. Lime is very detectable along with just a touch of ginger. Roast is buried and there is some metal there too. The flavor starts out with lime and ginger almost leading to a cola-like character. Some coffee and roasted malt follows along with caramel but the lime never really does completely go away. Hops figure in somewhat prominently leading to a bitterness lingering through the finish. Nice silky mouthfeel and not too sweet. Overall, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this beer but the more I drink it the more it grows on me. Kind of refreshing and almost reminiscent of being in a forest. Another good beer from this brewery.

12 oz. bottle from The Hop Yard, Raleigh, NC (bottled May 28, 2014). Cola-like dark brown pour with a khaki head. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted coffee, and Earth hops. Taste of black licorice, rich espresso, and ginger. Interesting beer, but it works.

Dark pour with mocha head and splashy lace. Christmas spice, roast and cocoa on the nose. Taste is similar with the spice taking over and some licorice or anise in the finish. Ok.

12 oz bottle. Bottled on 05/28/14. (Bruisin Ales) Asheville, NC.
Black colour with a small light tan head. Ginger, some toothpaste and not much more... the ginger is quite overwhelming in the aroma. The flavour is roasted malt, mint, vegetables... Wow! This a bit too strange to be tasty. This ain’t the best mixture. Bit of a disappointment.
