Rain Check Spiced Stout is our answer to the merciless wet weather that plagued and slowed the construction of our new brewery in Mills River, NC. This dark, rich, and roasty beer helps us forget the delays - a Rain Check we’ll take anytime. Rain Check is a rich, toasty stout with flavors of burnt sugar and dark roasted malt spiked with ginger and lime to celebrate the end of dark and rainy days.

Medium bodied Imp stout that’s roasty and slightly sweet. Easy to 9rink at 9%. I don’t get any of the ginger or lime notes, but solid brew overall.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep black color with a dark tan thin head. The aroma, is a wonderful blend of dark roasted coffee, chocolate, and spices. Taste begins sweet and caramel like, fading to a nice spice flavor with notes of clove and allspice. Finishes with roasted, coffee notes. Moderate carbonation, rather thin body, very smooth.

Aroma of smoked malt and bourbon, pours a dark brown color with a short lasting tan head with lacing. Taste of bourbon and smoked malt, light body with a phenolic bourbon finish.

Pours dark with a ring of foam that hugs my glass. The aroma is a tad different than a normal stout, it really shows off the spiced stout style on the nose. I picked up on scents of lime, sweet sugars, mild licorice, defined ginger character, and a soft roasted malt aroma. Tasting I picked on lime, mild roasted malt flavor, mild to medium ginger notes, and a subtle sugary sweetness. Everything blends well, it has a good finish, a pleasant medium bitterness, and a good body. Overall I enjoyed this beverage. For me it would not be an everyday beverage but a welcomed savoring slow drinker... I feel like I understand the story on the label a little more from consuming this.

Interesting. I liked it as a one off, but I don’t think I will buy it again. Ginger is evident. Seems out of place, but the citrus sweetness cuts in and makes it drinkable. Thanks for the effort SN.

Allspice, charred oak nose, hints of clove. Black, thin tan head. Sweet, which brings out more of the flavor of the spices. Ginger, soil, allspice. Yeasty tree bark finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Tastefully done, not heavy.

Bottle to glass. Nose is slightly burnt coffee with a dark dark cocoa. Pitch black pour with a small light brown head. Taste is a mess of burnt sugar, dark chocolate, alcohol peppers, and tropical zest. Very bitter and very warming. Not SN best effort

Bottle from Beer Frog Spring Hill. Pours a deep stout brown with an off- white head. Nose is some licorice, some earth, some roast, some spices, a mild ginger presence, possibly some sarsaparilla, and chocolate. Flavor is similar with chocolate, roast, earth, sarsaparilla, spice, anise, and bits of other earthy spices I can’t quite name. Medium in body and very complex and more coming out as it warms. A very nice supper overall.

Bouteille.
