COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A distinct 5.5% ABV session-lager brewed with elemental, native terroir from the following collective of brewers: Sierra Nevada (wild rice, beets, cucumber, mint and carrots), Avery (Colorado alfalfa honey), Allagash (Maine purple potatoes), Dogfish Head (free-range Atlantic Ocean “beach” wood), and Lost Abbey (cage-free Pacific Ocean “beach” wood). Born out of a backroom conversation in a Boulder restaurant and blooming into a full-blown cornucopia of a collaboration, Repoterroir is a coming together of like-minded craft beer compatriots. Brewed at Sierra Nevada’s brewery in Chico, CA this sessionable lager beer reclaims the earthbound mantle of terroir from the grape-soaked, buttoned-down world of wine and re-purposes it in a new sudsy sense. Featuring natural ingredients contributed by each of the five breweries, this unique and earthy beer is complex and layered but ultimately drinkable. Using the full repertoire of skills from more than 86 combined years of brewing knowledge and skill, this lager combines traditional (and not so traditional) ingredients into an ideal summertime brew.

A: The beer pours a pale yellow color with a tall white head. S: A really funky/strange aroma. Strong notes of apple along with a very herbal, almost sage, aroma. Lots of mint, a bit of yeast, and a weird spicy and woody note. T: Just weird. Again, lots of apples. But this time, they’re followed by metal. Very woody, which shouldn’t be surprising, I guess. Some candied sage and mint. Overall heavily herbal with lots of perfume type flavors. M: Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. O: This was just bad. No desire to ever have this, or anything like it, again.

On tap at Avery Tasting Room poured a clear cold with a smal lingering white head. Aromas of straw, dill weed and light citrus. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of straw, dill weed, light citrus and a hint of earthiness with a crisp dry lingering dill finish.

Tap @ Avery. Clear golden yellow appearance with a white head. Ginger, herbal, minty aroma. Pretty herbal, ginger, minty, light honey, light malty flavor. Easy drinking but nothing too exciting. Meh.

Tap at CK. Sounds like a Sam Caligione beer. Pours low haze golden. A bit murky/dirty. Weak head formation. Nose is powerful spice medley with heavy potpourri, sea salt, lavender, rose pedals, flower pollen....even some dill and even dill pickle. Taste is powerful perfume, flower, pollen, lilac, lavender. Spicy rosemary and rose water. Big white pepper and sage. I like it, but I love these types of mega herb garden beers. Unique, dry, fun, enjoyable. But if you hate lavender perfume or dill pickle, stay away.

On tap at Lost Abbey. Listed as simply Repoterroir Session Lager. Pours with a crystal clear yellow hued body with a lasting white head. Aromas are hoppy, floral, lightly spicy, starchy, crackery malt, clean yeast wise, and a bit of spicy wood/cedar like notes. Flavors are malty, bready, floral, light peppery (pepper corn) character, flowers, cantaloupe like fruit notes. Lively bubbles, dry, light chamomile tea herbal thing going on. Medium bodied. Tasty for such a strange group of ingredients.

Pours very slightly hazy straw yellow with white head on tap at Avery. Very interesting aroma with some herbal notes of mint, dill, rosemary, sage, some ginger, touch of other vegetal and very slight honey notes. Weird, and the taste isn’t much better, with a weird herbal minty quality, some slight ginger, some biscuit notes, maybe a touch of honey, but really dominated by a very odd herbal and ginger combination.

On tap at brewery. Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Nice herbal candy peppermint like aroma and taste with notes of hop resin and a grassy mint finish. Wild.

Draft at Lost Abbey with Andrew, Brendan and the big boy daddy dad Bachelor, Dallas. Pours a light hazy lime body. Aroma is cucumber and lemongrass. Mouthfeel is thin and soft with notes of cucumber, pickles, grass, lemon and lime. Incredibly unique brew. Wow, nothing like it.

Draft at the Lost Abbey tasting room. Clear pale yellow pour with a small white head, very pissy looking. Grain, carrot, beet, vegetable garden, definite mint bouncing around in the background, and earthy. Unique for sure, but a taster glass of it is enough for me.
