UPDATED: MAY 24, 2015 12 oz. bottle- Pours dark autumn amber with an off white to almost creamy tan head. Aroma is bready, peppery spice, some hops, but not as much as I was expecting. The taste is wow, the first thing to come to mind is complex, very hoppy, but not all that bitter, bready from the rye obviously, pepper is there but more so in the aroma. Body is moderately full, carbonation is spot on. Great beer, a beer made with rye that I can actually back up, I usually donít care for them.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours ruby/copper with a fluffy, cream-colored head. Aroma of rye spiciness, citrusy hops characteristic of Sierra Nevada, and some caramel malts. All of the flavors strong. Smooth texture. A pretty good beer.

Pours copper with off white head. Aroma is spicy, pepper, citrus and grass. Taste is bittersweet with some peppery undertones. Lighter mouth feel with a somewhat oily texture.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2012 Bottle. Pours a deep copper color with pretty decent off-white head and some thin lacing. Aroma is of hops and spicy rye. Taste is bitter piney hops, a strong rye character, and maybe some pepper. Overall a nice beer.

Recently picked up a six-pack of this brew: really excited to have a (potentially) good year-round rye available in these parts in addition to Redís Rye. Hereís to hoping this one fits the bill.
Pour is light copper, scattered carbonation & a healthy baby head. Nose promises good things. Light rye & accompanying spiciness, wry hops, slight breadiness. Not a bad way to start an experience.
Ruthless Rye is on the doughy end of the rye spectrum. Rye bread knots dominate the taste, with a dusting of light spices in the flour. Bitter hops that slip from earthy to piney light up the middle of a pull, then an unexpected slap of roast & pepper mixes with the other stuff to form a nice, lively back-end. Very lively, & a pleasure to sip. Quickly.
This isnít the grand slam I was hoping for, but Iíll take a rye double into the corner any time. Very good rye that really pulls all the ingredients together into a spicy, hoppy, tasty whole. Iíll come back to this one again, my favorite Sierra Nevada regular offering to date.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. Deep rye flavor, with hints of citrus and grass. Really nice.

Nice aroma of citrus hop; excellent luscious pour with lacy frothy head; taste is nice marriage of high alpha hops, spicy bitterness from rye, and malts; nice brew!

Pours a nice deep copper color with an off-white head and plenty of lacing. The aroma has some citrusy hops along with some rye spice. The flavor is mostly citrus up front with the rye spice making up the aftertaste with a slight sweetness.

Deep honey color with an inch of rock-solid tan head. Aroma is citrus with a secondary note of peppered meat. Taste has that too, with deep, pithy, almost tannic bitterness and robust bready malt into the finish. $2/12oz
