3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft from Coalhouse Pizza, Stamford, CT. I enjoyed the spicy rye notes blended with the citrus and pine notes of the hops. This brew provides a well-balanced, complex palate without being too heavy or hoppy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured into a Duvel tulip from a 2012 bottle with no freshness date.
A: Beautiful, clear dark amber with a towering light tan foam head. This is a beer that looks like it wants to be drunk!
S: Slight rye spice with earthy notes and slight citrus.
T: Really spicey from the rye from start to finish they really are ruthless with the rye. It sort of overpowers the flavor sadly, there’s a slight grapefruit bite at the end, but this is very one-dimensional. I’m not liking this very much.
M: Medium bodied with sharp carbonation.
O: I was expecting more from this, it’s not very well balanced, but thankfully it is priced decently. Even so, I won’t be buying it again, Hop Rod is a much better option.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Wasnt my favorite. I respect it as an IPA from SN, but was dissapointed. I am not sure what I was suspecting, I was ready for a delicious bright, yummy IPA but I got a musty, funky hopped IPA. It was ok, but I wont buy it again and I love IPA to death I just brew better ones at home. With as many of them out there, I know you have to try new things which is what I suspect they were doing. I just wouldnt have sent this one out. Grainy and musty, sorry but this is the only SN beer that I didnt like much.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle... Poured a deep amberish/dark orange with a thick forming white head. Nice lacing. Immediately upon pouring I got a wiff of pine-like, resinous, earthy hops. Flavor wise those hop notes were there but extremely balanced by the astringently spiced rye tones and heavy malt sweetness. Vibrant, grapefruit-like hop flavors. Yeast presence was low as it had a very clean finish.

Bottle. Rye malt and citrus/pine hops aroma. Clear amber color with moderate head. Sweet toffee, rye malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel/pine hops flavor. Great balance. This is spectacular - really love this beer.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a nice copper color with a fluffy off white head. It has a great spicy aroma. Some citrus and bread. This has some of most balanced, tasty flavors I have had in a while. Great rye flavor with the spicy and. It runs bite of the hops. Awesome stuff!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a clear medium copper amber color with a densely packed beige head. Sudsy lacing along the glass. An inviting combination of rye, pine and citrus hops in the aroma. Flavor is quite nice with a good amount of bitterness in the finish. Very tasty offering from Sierra Nevada.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Nice flavor profile but the aroma was all pine and maybe a bit old. The mouthfeel was thin and strangely carbonated. This may have been a bad beer because I expect more from SN.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Man, did I ever like this one. 12oz bottle. Large head left nice lacing on my Cheers, Grandpa mug (yes, old people love beer too). Taste was, I thought, well-balanced and fairly complex, with pine, citrus, yeast and, believe it or not, rye. Not quite as hoppy in the traditional sense as one might have expected. An excellent beer, far better than Sierra’s Glissade and I may like it better than their Torpedo, which is one of my favorites. I may have rated it lower than I was tempted to so that I would not seem to be gushing....lol
