Ruthless IPA is brewed with this rustic grain for refined flavors – combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to Spring.

Clear reddish color with a average head and body. Spicy, tangy, aroma and taste---but muted compared to the best rye beers like Hop Rod Rye and Red’s Rye PA.

Tallahassee, Fl. Publix Supermarket - 12 oz bottle. Dark copper pour, off white, thick and foamy head that leaves a thick coat of lacing. Aroma is initially minty with some odd celery accents, and a back end spiciness. Full-bodied flavor with some initial bittersweet citrus, some minty rye and some pomegranate and apricot sweetness. Thick sticky mouthfeel with just enough spritz to keep it interesting. Solid new one from the trusted folks at SN.

12 oz bottle, 2012. A really well done rye ale here with a strong sticky pine bitterness and tasty caramel malts. The pour big and fluffy with a clumpy starch white lacing, a medium body appearance, and orange-caramel in color. A lot of cereal grains and rye cookie in the aroma, with mixed toffee, light fruity esters, and hazy mixed citrus and pine. Would maybe want just a tad bit more strength from the nose. The mouthfeel here is superb, with tingling and chewy, juicy bitter throughout, though it never gets unbalanced. Grains and rye start up front, but waves of deep pine, wood, and thick citrus fruits come after. Some light nutty, caramel cookies, and estery notes in there as well. Finish and aftertaste piny hop cones and peppery, herbal rye. The one really keeps lingering and bitter never seems to stop. The abv is just right to prevent the hops from overpowering. Hats off to Sierra Nevada for this one as this was really well crafted. Hopefully this seasonal becomes a mainstay of theirs.

The aroma is at times unpleasant - reminding me some of distant malathion. Nice label, not sure what it represents, but it kinda looks like Aragorn hanging out on the walls of Edoras in Rohan. Bright, clear copper beer. I would characterize this beer as ’savory’. It’s dry, tangy and herbal. I am definitely going to buy a sixer of this to keep on hand for cooking - this has got to be a brutal potroast ingredient. Spicy, tangy finish with a final earthy kick. Medium to slightly light body. Complex, unusual. New Leaf Market.

What a great blend of flavors. A truly spicy rye and well rounded citrus hops. Over the top rye influence gives the IPA hop levels a run for its money. Definitely of Sierra Nevada’s premium beers at a reasonable price point. So many brewers would only put this beer in bombers.

Bottle. Pours a clear, deep amber with beige head. Aroma of citrusy hop...is dominant. Flavor of intense citrusy and earthy hop, subtle grain, grass, somewhat light sweetness, leafy pine, very nice, balanced bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy body with medium-high carbonation. Overall, a very well made, nice tasting brew!
