4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is one hell of a rye IPA. Super hopped flavor, with some resin, floral notes and the peppery spice of the rye to perfect the punch. Looking forward to my next pour.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap, pours an amber color with a thick white head that leaves awesome lacing. Smells of pine, citrus, caramel and rye bread. Tastes of all the same things I mentioned in smell. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with medium carbonation. Overall this is a solid ipa with a nice rye flavor added. Sierra Nevada know how to use hops perfectly.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep copper appearance with sizable head and great lacing at first, although it disappears rather quickly. Aroma is very piney at first, but then the spicy rye really stands out, and grapefruit blends well with the rye after a few minutes to create quite the aromatic whiff. Flavor follows suit - starts out pretty piney, but then the rye kicks in, and finally the grapefruit. Strong, but ultimately well-balanced with three different levels of taste, none of which overwhelms the other.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A amber brown with an off white head. The nose is spiced, the body is medium, and the flavor has the warm of a rye bourbon. Decent overall but lacking complexity.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled, drank in a tulip glass with chicken fried rice. Aroma is citrusy and hoppy with a small hint of spice and the unmistakable smell of rye. Beer is a rich brown color with a small off white head. Taste is sweet and highly bitter and the malt has a heavy rye taste. Finishes dry and with just enough bitterness to make you crave the next sip. Very drinkable, especially so to these that prefer IPAs. Overall Sierra Nevada knows how to make amazing beer. And this one is a great beer that I look forward to each and every year.

Rye lends a delicious sweet flavor that balances the aggressive hoping typical of SN. Supremely balanced. Highly drinkable

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thin head, slightly brown. Rather bitter beer. Aroma of spice and rye. Taste has a fair amount of spice in it. Advertised citrus flavor, but I only tasted slightest of hints of it. Good for a uncommon taste, but not if you don't like bitter beers

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 20, 2013 Pours like a brown Ale color with off white pillowy head and great lacing. Aroma is citrucy and dank resiney hoppy with some spices. Taste is dank resiney and clean fresh slightly grassy wild hopps and spices probably the rye good malt backbone medium to light mouth feel. Nicely balanced ipa a bit diffrent than the usual west coast ipa with the rye or spice character. Nice price too at $1.66 a 12oz bottle. Honestly this is the best ive had from sierra Nevada besides Hoptimum ;)

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Strong bitter beer with long lasting afte rt taste. Dark clear in appearance with large head. Similar to their torpedo brand I would have a hard time telling the difference.
