Ruthless IPA is brewed with this rustic grain for refined flavors – combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to Spring.

Rated from notes.....pours a clean and clear copper with a thick white head.......smells of spice from the rye with a wonderful hop prescence.....taste is malty and spicy/ no real "juice" from the hops.....palate is a little weak up front but has a nice bitter finish....good beer, glad I tried it, maybe will try again next year.

(Bottle) Amber colour with frothy, beige head, leaving traces of lacing. Malty, hoppy nose with orange, grapefruit, apricots, treacle-toffee, rye bread and a touch of pine needles. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of grapefruit, orange peel, crisp-bread, pine needles, a touch of brown sugar and a solid piney, citrussy bitterness in a fairly dry finish. Medium body, with just a touch of sweetness. Very nice.

From bottle. Medium amber with thick head. Spicy/flowery aroma jumps out as soon as you open the bottle. Attacks the palate hard with Hoppy spice but then quickly turns malty with slight fruit and finishes dry and pretty bitter. Medium to light mouthfeel. Nice to try but a little too harsh for more than one and not my favorite hop profile. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not a bad rye IPA. Nice rye color, and great thicker mouthfeel. The rye and hop flavors come through, with slightly unbalanced lingering bitterness. Flavor could be a bit deeper and/or more hop forward, but overall pretty good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle: Appearance is a deep brown with fair amount of foamy off white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy with hints of malt. Taste is very hoppy, no real distinction from the rye, but overall a great IPA.

Bottle--deep amber color with a large, white head. Malty aroma, some pine and spice included too. Malt is the base with spicey touches and hops on the finish. Soft bitter finish and a good amount of carbonation. Produce place, 1.49.

Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA is a surprisingly good IPA for a company that was in a mass production rut for some time. RR IPA pours nice with slightly dark color and a nice head. There is a slight spicy aroma. The initial taste is bitter bite one might expect from an IPA but followed by flavors of rye mixed with slightly citrusy hop flavors. Very good, but not a whole lot of complexity. Ruthless Rye was sold in a 12-pack at a good price, and this beer is interesting enough that you don’t tire of it before finishing.

The rye hits you from the first sip. Pleasant amber color with plenty of lacing. Hops linger after. One of my favorites right now. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
