Ruthless IPA is brewed with this rustic grain for refined flavors – combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to Spring.

Hay market Houston. Nice pour, foamy head with some bubbly on top. Reddish brown color. Aroma sweet and pine. First sip bitter hops, fine on the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: The smell is citric and fruity, grape-fruit, pine-apple, pine resin and needles.
Appearance: A clear dark amber with a high warm off-white head, leaving loads of lacing and good curtains.
Taste: Starting sweet toffee and brown bread, then grape-fruit, pepper and lemon peel.
Palate: Medium low carbonation, soft and sticky, a big body and a dry finish.
Overall: In all a good exemplary rye IPA.
Note: Bottle 355 ml (Vintage 2012) Reviewed 2012-05-10.

Love it. Lots of good hop, citrus, rye, and malt aroma on this one. Pours a typical amber with some head. The taste is well balanced with malty character some rye notes as well as the nice hoppy citrus and faintly piny notes you’d expect. The finish is nice, dry, and balanced. Really easy drinking and a great deal for the price.

This has a pepper and grapefruit nose, as does the taste. This has the typical Sierra Nevada "bitter end", which is not a bad thing, but it kind of masks the rye taste; other then the peppery quality. It’s certainly good enough to buy repeatedly but it just doesn’t stand up to Founders Reds Rye, which makes much better use of rye malts.

Bottle. Hazy dark brown with an off white foam. Aromas are melon and grapefruit with Weetabix and cocoa. Spicy with raisins, yeast and hints of banana. Lightly smoked with nice bready rye. Flavours are berries with cookie dough and spicy pine. Green apple with gritty cocoa and bitter grapefruit. Very nice.

Dark orange to a copper color, off white very fluffy retaining head. Very good looking beer. Fairly bitter but not unbearable. Very drinkable beer. Get citrus notes on the finish while very bitter upfront. Very tasty beer.

Amber-brown with lasting head, some lacing. Nose is grapefruit, lemon, some spice, flavour is caramel, spice, medium bitterness. Very nice, love these Californian IPAs, but seemed a tad watery.

Surprisingly good flavor without overpowering the palette. Good staying power. Good stuff.

Rich ruby red color with a creamy ran foam - thick, persistent lacing. Earthy nose with notes of pine and grain coming through the hops. The flavor is nicely balanced, with a slight (pleasant) astringency. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
