Hazy orange/copper colored beer with a slightly off-white head. Extremely powerful aromas of pine/spruce. Tastes of fresh cut grass, pine/spruce flavors, some wheat, and a peppery aftertaste. Very dry, bitter finish. Ruthless indeed, a bit too strong on the hops for me. Still quite good.

Aroma is (naturally) spicy rye malts, like finished wood. The and perfumey hops really work well together here. Hops are orange peel citrus -- thatís the formula that seems to work for these beers. The appearance is reddish-orange (average), with a big crown of lace. Thick head, looks fantastic, with excellent head retention. Flavor is peppery, spicy malts. The hops arenít as bright here as in the flavor. Much more of a woody character in the flavor. The palate is creamy, if a little slick at the end. The oils of the hops seem to wash up on the tongue. The flavor doesnít quite live up to the aroma, but itís a strong, nicely-flavored beer.

from the new 12oz bottle - This is one tasty beer. Nose is lovely floral hops with a whiff of grain. The body is sweet peaches and minty rye. Touches of grain and caramel round things out. Will definitely be getting more of this.

A nice copper color and thick head, I found the aroma to lighter than expected, overall a very good brew.

pours a beautiful copper color with a dense two finger pancake that sticks. Mild aromas of spicy citrus rind and sweet malt. Medium full nectar with excellent carbonation creating a creamy mouthfeel. Full on hop spice with a balancing malt backbone. A bit of fresh baked biscuit is noticeable. There is a defined spicy character that shines through. Nice beer.

Bottle. Pours dark copper with large off-white head. Aroma is pine, citrus, funk. Rye is much more obvious in the flavor to compliment piney hoppiness. Not a bad beer.

Bottle. Pouts a copper/amber color with a foamy white head. Nose is rye, grassy hops. Palate is full, firm, medium carbonation, light film, nice texture. Flavors of dry grassy hops, biscuits with a dryness and a light rye aftertaste.

Bottle. Poured copper with a tan head that settled to a ring and left light lace. Aromas of rye and citrus rind. The flavor found rye, citrus rind, and light malt backing. Medium body and a mild bitterness.
