Ruthless IPA is brewed with this rustic grain for refined flavors Ė combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to Spring.

12 oz bottle. Pours brown with an amber hue. a blend of citrus and hops on the nose. Taste is a bit lacking compared to the aroma. The rye comes through on the finish. Not bad not great.

Bottle. Tons of grapefruit aroma. Pours a clear rusty brown with foamy head. Lots of grapefruit and grains. Some spice and roast malt. Great beer!

This oneís a beaut! Very much a typically IPA... hoppy, floral to the nose. Pretty darker gold hue with almost creamy bubbles. Then the rye becomes apparent with aggressive roasty, toasty notes with spicy clove/anise/smoky tones. Very good IPA style.

Bottle from Woodmans in the Falls. Pours orange brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet fruit, flowers, caramel. Taste is sweet caramel, rye, citrus. Finishes sweet with some rye. Solid and tasty.

From a 355ml bottle on 22/3/2012 (2012 edition). Pours a relatively clear light amber with a biggish head. Has a lovely citrusy, resiny, hoppy aroma. Thereís some sweet orange and caramel malt at the start, but this is dominated by spicy, peppery bitterness, which lingers long. The rye gives this one a real peppery twist, but there is sufficient balance to make it both notable and very enjoyable.

On tap at multiple locations over the last couple months, most recently Sushi Love, Durham. Nice, clean copper pour with a silky head and vibrant carbonation. Well made, understated IPA with a terrific balance of hops and rye in the nose and flavors both. Playful carbonation brings out some zesty citrus, which contrasts nicely with the moderate spice from the rye on the palate. Not especially complicated, perhaps, but distinctive and damn refreshing.

Clear amber red body with mainly lasting head. Pepper, rye and some citrus on the nose. Rye is prominent in the taste, needs more hops for me though, easily drinkable just not ruthless enough for me.

She pours with less head than Iíd expected but itís a beautiful beer - amber with deep reds. It looks to me like bubbles in a clear whiskey. Itís a lightly sweet but heavily bittered beer that trails across the palate like itís plugged in and I love that. Ruthless Rye is a spicy, floral-infused but sharply brewed pint of awesomeness that became the perfect finale to a short, pleasantly warm winter here in Montana. Cheers.

Bottle. Clear coppery brown pour with a foamy beige head that lasts well. Spicy, malty nose has notes of juniper, pepper, caramel, pine and nuts. Flavour is a little thin and watery, and is a little more earthy, but is essentially the same as the aroma with the pepper, pine and caramel standing out. Mouthfeel is fairly dry with lots of soft carbonation and a lingering spicy, bitter finish. Nice enough IPA, not a lot of noticeable input from the rye and probably not one I would drink many of, but still an ok brew.
