COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ruthless IPA is brewed with this rustic grain for refined flavors – combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to Spring.

Smells like a really good rye bread right out of the oven... and has a good hop forward initial taste, but it really lacks the complexity of other Rye IPAs. A good beer for Sierra Nevada, but not in the same league as a true craft/micro Rye IPA. And for $9.99/6er, its a bit over priced for the quality.

Thin white head atop a cloudy brown Amber body. Nose of rye atop hops as is the flavour. Nice bitterness through the finish.

GUSTO: in bocca è veramente appagante.

Rated base on notes taken 21 Feb 2013 -- This is a nice combination of earthy hops and spicy malt flavor. I dig it.

12oz bottle - Not entirely sure this is a step up from their seasonal Glissade bock or not. It’s a nice rye ale, but it really lacks the hop aromas and flavors that are normally associated with a Sierra Nevada beer, which generally should have a showing of hops. A light earthy/musty character comes out at first, then some subtle grassy notes show up. Flavor is defenitely a showcase of the rye, with the spicy/tartness showing up loud and clear. The herbal/piney hops used also helps support the rye quite well. Overall, a nice beer at a good price. Not sure I would buy this on a regular basis over the SNPA as a regular drinker or not. But a nice beer to show what rye can do in the malt bill.

Lovely beer. Seemed like the Pale Ale on steroids. Lovely depth of flavour, great malt balance with nice piney, resiny hops coming through. Some citrus. Medium-low carbonation.

Pours a golden amber. Fluffy off-white head. Average aroma, at best. Sweet malt on the front end with a full bitter finish.
