Ruthless IPA is brewed with this rustic grain for refined flavors – combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to Spring.

Smells like a really good rye bread right out of the oven... and has a good hop forward initial taste, but it really lacks the complexity of other Rye IPAs. A good beer for Sierra Nevada, but not in the same league as a true craft/micro Rye IPA. And for $9.99/6er, its a bit over priced for the quality.

355ml bottle from Drygate. Pours amber with decent head. Hoppy aroma, well matched by the slightly bitter taste with grapefruit hints. Decent

Aroma: Floral, spicy, slight citrus. Appearance: Medium amber with nice tan head. Taste: Nicely balanced peppery spicyness with some caramel and citrus. Less overpowering than some others with the rye. Palate: Medium-light body with medium carbonation and an interesting finish that leaves a little pepper on the tongue.

Flaska från Systembolaget. Dimmig bärnstensfärgad vätska med lågt vitt skum. Doftar söta frukter, jordgubbar. Kåda och pepprig smak med en sötma som väger upp. Beskan hänger med länge.

Slightly hazy amber colored beer with big white head leaving lacing. Aroma has rye, pine, resin and peat. Flavor is piney and herbal bitter and creamy rye bready sweet. Palate is quite thick with quite soft carbonation and feel of bitterness. Finish is strong with heavy bitterness. Aftertaste is dry, grapefruity and rye bready, a bit soapy and acidic. I would like some fruityness – perhaps it’s left to the other side of the Atlantic.

Pours a deep copper with a decent foamy off-white head that stays for a bit. Nice lacing. Aroma of pine resin, hay and grainy malt. The rye gives it an earthy taste with a bit of sweet spice. It also balances nicely with the hops. It’s bitter, but not overly so. It does give a nice tingle to the tongue. Medium mouth without a lot of carbonation. Definitely a solid beer as you would expect from SN.
