3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Ruthless Rye pours copper in color, with a two finger width white head. There is great head retention, which leaves a gorgeous, thick lacing on the glass. Ruthless Rye has tons of grapefruit in the aroma, with a little pine thrown in. Taking some sips, there is more grapefruit, pine, lemon, caramel, and maybe a little spice from the rye, but I may be imagining it. I would say the body on Ruthless Rye is a little heavier than medium. Carbonation seems average, and there is a resinous quality to each sip I take.
Overall: A good beer, but I was surprised at how little rye there was in the aroma and flavor. I would buy it again if I wanted a good IPA, but not if I was looking for a rye beer.

Balance best describes this brew. Everpresent bitterness that never goes overboard, some roughness from the rye. A shame this one is not made year round.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured from a bottle it is a clear effervescent golden color with a foamy head. The aroma is malty and the taste is strong very peppery flavor that resonates bitter on the palate

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Foamy khaki head, peppery sort of gym rope citrus smell. Creamy and malty. Spicy rye flavor with a citrusy hop bitterness. There are two parts to this beer. Front palate does not harmonize as well as the back palate. Unique beer and always solid SN

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark amber color with an off white head and some lacing. Aroma of strong rye and spices with an equally strong hop presence. Flavour of peppery rye, assertive citrusy bitterness, turning more of a herbal citrus pithy bitterness towards the finish. Superior beer, my fave from SN.

12 FL. OZ. Bottle. Pours a nice amber with a lovely head of just off white foam. Aroma: caramel, bread, cereal, resin, dough, barnyard, cheese, cooked vegetables, nice. One of the nicest palates I’ve had from an IPA: medium body, creamy, slick feel, soft carbonation, very little stickiness, and a long lingering gently bitter finish. Cheers!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a copper from a bottle. Nose is some piney hoppiness, some caramel. Flavor is not as pronounced as I would have hoped on the rye, just another IPA.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice spicy aroma. Ever so slightly hazy with a rich orange color. Resinous flavors and nice hoppiness combine to produce a bitter brew but overly so. Good carbonation and mouth feel levels. Though I am not partial to ryes in general, this one doesn’t over play the rye and it rates highly for it.

This is a sharply bitter brewski. Fans of bitter brews will love this one. Uh, that would be me. I am an expert on what I like. Seriously.

In bottiglia.
