4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Delicious aromas of resin and pepper. It’s a flawless amber brown. It has a sticky-sweet flavor that accentuates the rye perfectly. The hoppy sweetness lingers just long enough to bring you back for another sip. This is one of my favorite IPAs and a perfect choice if you’re looking for something slightly different out of an India Pale.

One reason Sierra Nevada is a major craft brewery. They still make great beers as a larger brewer. Love the mix of pepper from the rye and crisp citrus from the hops. Perfect golden amber color. One of my favorite offerings from SN.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle. Nice copper-color beer, good pour, nice frothy head and soapy lacing. Aroma is very good, appetizing but not too harsh. Yes, the flavor is a great combination of pepper, a thin malt backbone, and up-front hop flavor mixed with the rye. Palate is good, aftertaste is pretty long. I keep looking for reasons to not like this beer for some reason, the style isn’t my favorite, but hey, it’s decent if you like rye.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Malt and bread with rye. Balanced and not extremely like Hop Rod. Although both are delicious Ruthless is far more drinkable. Otherwise it is a typical west coast IPA, with citrus hops, some bitterness and not too sweet or caramel. A little spicy.
