Ruthless IPA is brewed with this rustic grain for refined flavors – combining the peppery spice of rye and the bright citrusy flavors of whole-cone hops to create a complex ale for the tumultuous transition to Spring.

Realized that I never rated this despite running through several six packs last summer. Copper like color, and a big grainy nose. Sweet grainiess from the rye is really notable along with a big bitter citrus finish.

One reason Sierra Nevada is a major craft brewery. They still make great beers as a larger brewer. Love the mix of pepper from the rye and crisp citrus from the hops. Perfect golden amber color. One of my favorite offerings from SN.

Amber color with a persistent foam collar. Aromas of spices, sugar and spicy hop. Flavours announced by the nose. We can feel the rye roundness on the mouth. Couleur ambrée, mousse persistante. Aromes d’épices, de sucre et de houblon piquant. Saveurs épicées, houblonnées et sucrées. Rondeur du seigle en bouche.

pours clear bright golden orange with a tall creamy off-white head, excellent retention and strong lacing - beautiful. grainy lightly sweet spicy rye and toasted maltiness, very fruity and almost juicy - berry-like, strawberry-like hops, citrus, pine, pepper, other spices like mint, tea leaves, dusty graininess - husk-like. moderate carboantion, light body - oily, balanced grassy-spicy-piney-citrusy finish. very good brew!

12oz bottle. Nice copper-color beer, good pour, nice frothy head and soapy lacing. Aroma is very good, appetizing but not too harsh. Yes, the flavor is a great combination of pepper, a thin malt backbone, and up-front hop flavor mixed with the rye. Palate is good, aftertaste is pretty long. I keep looking for reasons to not like this beer for some reason, the style isn’t my favorite, but hey, it’s decent if you like rye.

Malt and bread with rye. Balanced and not extremely like Hop Rod. Although both are delicious Ruthless is far more drinkable. Otherwise it is a typical west coast IPA, with citrus hops, some bitterness and not too sweet or caramel. A little spicy.
