Commercial Description:
Our schwarzbier (black beer) is a traditional German style lager beer. The use of roasted chocolate malt gives this dark colored, medium bodied beer a wonderful sweet maltiness. This beer was brewed in Sierra Nevada's new 10 barrel pilot brewery.

On tap at the Graduate. Dark pour with a small head. Served almost frozen into a frozen pint glass. After spending 10 minutes trying to warm it up, I began to notice some toasted maltyness, light chocolate and crisp hops. Body was lighter than I was hoping but no less than average.

Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Very dark brown, minimal head. Roasty chocolatey nose. Sweet with clean mouthfeel and fairly light body. Flavour of chocolate wrapped in paper. Finishes with faint bitterness. I dig the chocolate part, but the hard, clean mouthfeel makes it dull and lifeless.

Draft, at Blind Tiger (NYC) 8/30/08. Poured cola colored with a medium-sized tan head. Aroma of cocoa and roasted malt. Flavor is dark chocolate, mocha, bread, mild hops and some nuts. Long nutty finish.

Tap at BT. Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and some sweet light malts too. Flavor of nice roasted malts. Light and smooth palate, tasty and drinkable. Interesting schwarzbier, more roasted than I expected but it was quite tasty!

Tap at Bling Tiger. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt. Flavor of the same with an element of sweetness. Full bodied yet silky. Sort of like a lager form of their porter. Yum!
