You donít need a magic mirror to see the lure of this beer. Itís brewed with seven varieties of experimental dwarf hops. These hops are so called because of their uncommon growing methodóshorter hedgerows rather than tall trellis systemsóthat yields a denser heap of cones with unique flavors that diverge from their full-grown botanical counterparts. Each year new and different varieties are grown in this method, creating untried and exciting shifts in hop character.

12 fl oz bottle sample via Piscator34. Pours a hazy yellow (definitely some yeast sediment in the pour) with a thick white head. Assertive aromas of pepper, pineapple and some phenolic notes. Tastes are a little resin, spice, and somewhat metallic. Chalky with a slightly metallic finish. I may have waited a little too long to try this beer.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a very hazy golden color. The white head is huge, puffy, and even extends over the rim of the glass. Retention isnít superb, and thatís actually good in this case. Some streaks of lacing are left behind. S: At first, itís shockingly low on hoppiness. Yeah, I get lots of clove, coriander, black pepper, and lemon peel, but not much in the way of hops. Actually, it seems like the hops here accentuate and meld with the lemony, herbaceous notes, rather than sock the olfactory senses with tons of pine and grapefruit. Itís not much of a proper white IPA, but itís a damn good witbier. T: It opens quite bitterly, with a healthy herbal bitterness. This quickly turns into a subtle fruitiness in the middle. It closes with a gentle wheat flavor. Just like with the nose: itís a damn nice wit, but really isnít much of an IPA - white or otherwise. The hops arenít the star of the show (like they should be in this style), they just mesh some of the more bitter flavors well. M: Mmmmm. This one is so dry, just the way I like it. Itís rather full bodied, which means itís not particularly effortless - that just means itís not watery. Well carbonated, but not ridiculously so. O: I like this one. It doesnít really bring the hops that amazingly, so I canít give it a great score. But it is a refreshing and easy to drink spring-time treat with a bit more welcome bitterness than normal.

Keg at Tap East brewpub, London. It pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium white head. Aroma is fruity with notes of green apples, citrus peel, hay, pine cones, light funk. Taste is medium sweet and medium dry with funk notes, pine needles, grass, lemon custard, wheat and grapefruit peel. Finishes astringent, bitter and dry, lightly yeasty. Overall, very tasty

Herbal, weirdly spicy, and a touch too bitter, but there are some nice citrusy notes and the nose is fairly pleasant despite the beer not being quite as good on the palate.
