COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale marks our journey to the only place on the planet where fresh hops are harvested in our spring, the Southern Hemisphere. Our task was daunting-we needed to get the hops picked, dried, flown halfway across the world and into our brew kettle in a little over a weekís time. The result is a North-by-South fusion of fresh New Zealand hops blended with the finest North American malts. Its robust hop character presents an intriguing floral-citrus aroma leading to layers of fresh-hop spiciness. Enjoy!

This may be my last review of the SN regulars available around here. Bomber into snifter glass, deep copper color with light tan head. Aroma of somewhat light hops (earthy, floral, some fruit) for an IPA, and a faint spiciness. Taste came in stronger with pine/citrus hop bitterness balanced with caramel malt sweetness. Medium body, low carbonation, smooth, creamy yet crisp with a clean finish yielding only minimal lingering bitterness. Maybe not as good as its northern brother but pretty darn good. More subtle yet very much there.

Great fresh beer with really fresh hops. Really nice floral aroma and nice blend of malts. I think I tasted a bit of spice as well.

1 pint 8 oz bottle, packaged 9/24/14. More red than traditional ipa. Small head. Aroma is a bit indistinct, with citrus and hop noticeable. Taste is totally adequate, with little aftertaste and not much flavor the front. Very clean finish. Reminds me of a hoppier Budweiser honestly. There is nothing wrong with it, just not much character.

"Sierra Nevada dual beer tasting Abby, Ben & I had a 24 oz. Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Harvest Ale "fresh hop ale" (Spring 2008 release) side by side with a Sierra Nevada 12th release Harvest Ale "wet hop ale" (fall 2008 release). Although they were significantly different in character, we each had a hard time deciding which was better. The concensus was that the wet hop ale was smoother, with a better mouthfeel, and the fresh hop ale was more bitter & slightly more aromatic. All 3 of us gave a slight edge to the 12th release wet hop ale, scored as follows... Ben 12th Ann. Wet Hop B SH Fresh Hop B Abby 12th Ann. Wet Hop B+ SH Fresh Hop B Chris 12th Ann. Wet Hop B+ (ever so close to an A-) SH Fresh Hops B So...both were good beers for hopheads...the fall release wet hop ale averaging a B+, and the fresh hop ale getting a B from each of us. The scores I gave were particularly high considering Iím not a HUGE Sierra Nevada Fan. There is a common thread in all their regular beers that make them seem very unspectacular...but I am finding that many of their seasonals & special releases are a whole ínother story. "

Cloudy amber with small short lived head. Lots of pine, grass and a little grapefruit in the aroma. Taste is more floral than the aroma indicates, with honey, malt, pine and grapefruit. Quite bitter in the finish with a metallic dryness that detracts from the taste slightly. Medium bodied. Not bad but not my favourite.

The scent is sweet but not fruity at all. The taste is bitter. Bitterness is not to me but more bitter but fills the upper part of the mouth of a weak moment. Not an IPA for my taste unfortunately. Follow me @ Kung av Ųl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bloody good stuff, great use of Kiwi hops. Can get this from BWS for $12 so pretty happy about that, great IPA, wet hop taste with nice biscuity caramel sweetness. Well done boys!

500ml bottle poured in a chalice. Review number 200 has to be special, right? So, Iíve decided to attack my private collection. The choice was a Sierra Nevada because Iím sure that a Sierra Nevada will NEVER disappoint me! Iíve bought this precious in an excellent beer shop in Treviso, Italy called "Il Regno di Gambrinus" (http://www.ilregnodigambrinus.com) during my vacations in Jesolo A: First of all, bottle art is just beautiful. It makes you really comfortable about its content :). Pours a beautiful orange to amber color with a medium and creamy beige head. Cloudy body and good retention. Many lacings are left in the glass as you drink it S: Once opened it spreads a delicious perfume of fresh hops everywhere. VERY grassy and earthy. Caramel malts T: Delicious and traditional American IPA. Very flowery taste. Quite bitter. Refreshing. Ok, some malts too M: Creamy body and medium carbonation. Bitterness is a must! O: High drinkability. Fantastic IPA [ BA Review @ 10/17/2010 ]
