3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Transparent copper bronze with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of fairly fresh grassy piny hops and some black peppery notes and lightly sweet malt. Body starts with decent fullness and crisp bittering hop character before a peppery earthy bittersweet finish. A pretty unique hop character.

Sampled on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a medium frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Very resiny hop aroma with pine and light citrus notes. Very bitter tasty with oily resin notes, pine and a subtle citrus bite at the end. Medium bodied, very bitter... one of those hop burns that lingers.... very nice.

A Mes rate: keg at the Sloany Pony.
Iím not afraid to confess my love for the Harvest so I was expecting this to be good. While it failed to reach the heady heights of the gravity served regular Harvest at last years 4th July Pony Fest, this was still bloody good. A very clean golden brown colour with a superb off white head. Big fruity hoppy stuff as expected. Fresh, lively and bright. A little on the harsh side but only enough to give it that tit spanking factor and not anything like enough to spoil it. Big bitter finish, again as expected. Possibly a little bland in the middle but the top and bottom are so good it gets away with it easily. Great stuff.

500 mL 2009 release. Iíve been trying to get my hands on one of these for awhile having liked the normal Harvest so much. Pours a clear copper with a lively, rocky, tan head that has excellent retention and leaves excellent sticky lacing. Aroma is powerful floral and herbal hops, orange juice, pine resin (almost like Pine-Sol). Taste is heavy on the herbal hops to the point of being medicinal but is sweetened by the orange and grapefruit flavors. Finish is very nutty and bitter. The closest beer Iíve ever had to this was a one-off IPA cask from Aviator Brewery in North Carolina that feed the beer through a container of fresh hops before it was poured. The flavor is very earthy and raw and Iím not sure if Iíve acquired a taste for it yet.

Big olí bottle. Poured a lovely shade of lighter orange with a fluffy, sticky cap of white head.. looked great! The aroma picked up sweet grapefruit and bready notes with spicy floral and earthy accents.. well-composed and enticing. The flavor had caramel and grapefruit meat at the core surrounded by the same spicy floral notes and grapefruit bitterness.. bitterness was high overall, just high enough to balance out the heavy sweetness.. long impression on the finish. Medium-bodied with moderate-to-high carbonation and bitterness.. balance was great and this was just enjoyable all around.

This brew pours a dark orange-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes slowly. Patchy lacing. Aroma of piney hops, grass and malt. Medium body with a floral and piney hops flavor along with a decent malt base. The finish is dry and hoppy with a citrusy base and a pine aftertaste. Solid all around.

On Tap at the Grey Lodge Pub, Philadelphia in company of Loz, Casey and Traci, on my fortieth birthday 16-11-08. Pours mid amber with a white head. Some fresh green hops and a good sweet thrusting honey bite start proceedings. There is some dryness and a sumptuous crisp and quite stinging hoppy bite on the tongue and roof of the mouth. Sweet, thick and malty with further hops showing, lovely stuff.

Big bottle in some unfathomable US system of units, split with the missus. Soupy honey pour with a steady vanilla-hued Belgian collar. Smells like the backyard at Sandy Lane; evocative Californian (!?) aroma of juicy peach, honeyed sweetness, peach iced tea, slight leafiness, caramel and pine. Peachy sweet with robust countering bitterness; stewed tea, pungent liquorice lurking in the shadows, dried spices. Honey and chocolate. It would annoy me if there wasnít that hop freshness and punch of liquorice and bitterness there. Balanced and humming. Although expresses none of the characteristics I associate with NZ hops.
