Bottle. Pours a medium amber, maybe copper with medium beige head. Aroma is earthy and hoppy, some grassiness and pine with floral notes. Flavor is fairly malty, lightly sweet with plenty of caramel. The hop flavors were interesting and quite different from what I’m used to coming out of a SN bottle, more floral and herbal instead of that citrusy grapefruit like blast I’m used to. Bitterness was fairly light and the finish was malty and slightly spicy and peppery. Good stuff, though I prefer the "regular hemisphere" harvest to this one.

Sep 4, 2008 THOUGHTS: Nice balance. Lots of citrus hops, which were very similar to West Coast hops, but slightly different. Plenty of malt to back things up. This IPA ranks right up there with some DIPAs.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium orange with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished, but left good lacing. The aroma was light to moderate caramel malt and a little grain, and lots of citrus (lemon, lime, orange and mostly grapefruit) hops. The intensity of the aroma went in and out though. The initial flavor was heavily sweet and lightly acidic and bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet and heavily bitter with an average to long duration. There was caramel malt, grapefruit and other citrus hops and some floral hops that reminded me of roses. The medium body was sort of oily and juicy with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Sep 4, 2008 bottle. Pours orange copper with an off white head. Sweet citric and floral aroma with some nice spicy hop notes coming through. Smooth body. The flavor is well balanced, floral, spicy and grassy. Very nice.

Sep 2, 2008 2008 Bottle.Yum! Great deep amber color and light bright head. Wonderful fruity hoppy light pine nose. Top half of glass is light fruity hoppy crisp. Last drink peppery and round. Spicy. At $4.49 a pop I’ve got to go stock up on a couple of these.

Sep 2, 2008 Huge head on a bronze-amber body, grassy, woody hops with a hint of spiciness. Warm, inviting, heavy with a dry, pure, bitterness that lasts a long time. Heady, some alcohol apparent. Really fresh and nice, a bit too heavy for a springtime ale. Overall, a well done beer.

Sep 2, 2008 Unique idea, using hops from New Zealand to make a strong Sierra Nevada IPA. Its the style the brewery does best, and Southern Hemisphere Harvest is no exception. Strong C-hops, well backed by caramel malts. At four bucks a bottle its a great value, too.
