COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale marks our journey to the only place on the planet where fresh hops are harvested in our spring, the Southern Hemisphere. Our task was daunting-we needed to get the hops picked, dried, flown halfway across the world and into our brew kettle in a little over a week’s time. The result is a North-by-South fusion of fresh New Zealand hops blended with the finest North American malts. Its robust hop character presents an intriguing floral-citrus aroma leading to layers of fresh-hop spiciness. Enjoy!

Objectively speaking: Another well-crafted pale ale from Sierra Nevada
I like: Never exaggerated crystal malt proportions. Perfectly clean. Growing reserves of lingering bitterness in the finish. Aromatic floral and earthy hops.
I dislike: Frankly not all that different from their other pale ales. Relatively simple, just going from A to B. Did not feel as fresh as the regular harvest ale.

Fresh is an understatement. Very refreshing change from the more brutal ipas I’ve been drinking. Seems to have just the right amounts of hoppiness, floral and citrus flavours and a good length of bitterness. Cant emphasise the FRESH in these hops enough!

Draft - Amber color. Dry hop flavor, slight alcohol aftertaste. Not a typical IPA with the New Zealand hops so that is why I am surprised with the alcohol taste to it. I was expecting more of a bit from the hops.

Pours dark golden with moderate head. Smell is gentle, resembles citrus. Taste is extremely well balanced, with a gentle hoppy aftertaste that slowly evolves. Excellent beer!

Solid IPA. Very "fresh" as advertised. Aroma is very floral to me. Very nice smelling beer. Taste is bitter but pleasant. Very refreshing and smooth feeling. Great release from Sierra Nevada for 2014. I recommend if you want a slightly different tasting IPA. I love the idea of using extremely fresh hops and the New Zealand varieties they use are a little different tasting than the ones commonly used in IPA’s right now. Cheers.

Not much to complain about on this amazing brew here. Beautiful Pour, delicious hoppy flavor and that familiar bitter aftertaste that you would expect from a top notch ipa

Split bomber from Brunos with Sherm1016. Pours a bright copper with moderate white head in snifters....very nice. Nose is pine / citrus with slightly bitter initial taste. Mellows a little as I work thru it....tough work!! Very nice. Wish it was fresher...noticing some ’older’ dates on SN bottles lately....this one was bottled 4/24....drank 8/2....getting spoiled by local beers like Half Acre or even Maine Beer company that get us beer inside a month. Oh well....life is tough!

2014 ’Fresh hop’ - new packaging (nice) - piney/fruit hoppy aroma carries through to palate - distinct, but low, malt impact makes for easy drinking - well balanced - but... not as vibrant as I remember from previous years maybe because there’s that quintessential American accent of herbal/piney-ness present and I’ve had a lot of NZPA’s that lack it while being super-fruity vibrant using similar hops - A good solid tasty APA but falls short of a great one.

on tap @ Cock and Bull / Covington KY ---Clear medium amber, thin rim head, light dots of lace. Taste is sweet malt with a peppery edge that adds caramel and pungent spice in the palate, gliding easily from there to a carbonated, lightly bittered finish. Full-bodied, rich, appealing.

Great, slightly cloudy, golden colour. Muted aroma, can smell some piney hops. Tastes dull, not as full as of expected - quite bitter but not well balanced. Palate is fine, a little watery for mine. Not the best IPA
