Dark brown in color with a thick foamy tan head that stays thru the whole glass. Smells malth. Taste of full malt with coffee aftertaste.Pretty impressed.

The pour was dark and rich looking with a tan frothy head. Quit appealing to my sight. The aroma was very pleasant with malts, vanilla and a slight sweetness. The flavor was a little dissapointing. A little dry...some malt flavor and a little hops too. Overall a very thin palate. Totally drinkable, but not really outstanding in anyway.

Somewhat disapointing. The color is almost black and it has a big foamy tan head. Nose is slight with hints of roasted malts and alcohol. The body is thin and isn't balanced out well. It's not bad but it lacks balance.

Nice chocolat and hoppy aroma. Tastes very hoppy and malty with extreme malt aftertaste. I make this as a compliment - if smoked Bluefish were a Beer, this would be it. I will purchase again.

(Bottled on 1/3/3) The beer poured perfectly and produced a wonderful dark head that omits aromas of chocolate and hops. The palate is smooth and roasty with a pleasant silkiness. I like this stout because I can drink a few pints without being filled up or becoming too drunk. The palate is medium in body and exhibits wonderful flavors of coffee, chocolate, and PNW hops. It is hard to imagine that I have not had an SNS for over 2 years, what was I thinking, because this is a fine stout made with American flair.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2005 Smells very rich, tastes slightly milky. Roasted feel, but too much carbonation. Mouthfeel is extremely thin compared to most similar stouts and porters. Tends to be oxidized from being left on store shelves for too long, and all around just not that interesting. Again, there’s nothing in this beer that brings me back.

A very drinkable stout. A sweet flavor with a pleasent coffee aftertaste. Almost fruity.

A very dark beer with a tannish head. Tastes great. It doesn't have the typical coffee aftertaste. The taste is very light compared to other stouts.

Nice, dark color and tannish head to this one. A nice aroma also, but perhaps a BIT weak. The flavor is nice and I'm somewhat surprised that this isn't categorized as a dry stout. Nevertheless, having endured MANY stouts with pronounced coffee and/or chocolate flavors, some of which were very nice, a stout where those flavors are less obvious.

Diablokev (146) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - FEB 8, 2003
The aroma is a malty/chocolate, with a slight hint of alcohol. The appearance is a deep burgandy, with a very nice creamy light brown head, leaving nice lace. The flavor is initially hoppy with a coffe like aftertaste. The beer is heavy but not to difficult to drink. Overall a nice beer.
